I'm noticing folks in Islamic Finance space that want to make "halal" stablecoins work, but I just don't see the innovation. Islamic Finance/banking has been trying to work with fiat for decades and failing miserably, and I don't see how stablecoins break that. It might make the trainwreck last a little bit longer though. The first step that's needed for making IF/IB work is to unapologetically reject old Riba system and not work within its logic/regulations. Stablecoins are a pathetic attempt to circumvent that crucial step.

Whenever I hear this agrument for "halal" stablecoins I just share @npub1gdu7...6nak Vegas keynote now. It addresses everything you need to realize its just a concesion to bitcoin having already won. Islamic Finance will arrive at btc at the time it deserves.
