Fun fact: "God is dead" was a diagnosis.
No cheering or cries for help. Nietzsche rejected Christianity. The superhuman is also often misunderstood and is a complex developmental process. One that probably no one will ever achieve.
Nietzsche rejected the churches and their doctrine. I don't think its known if he rejected Christ. There's more ways to understand Christ than what the churches present. His beef with church doctrine was the way pity is at the root of Christian charity - he simply didn't want pity to be the reason for people being good.
