Hmm.. The only connection to the wall AC adapter is with the third grounding hole/pin. The two pins into the AC are made of plastic. No charge. Your saying this somehow still does something..?

I'm wondering about this too. I use grounding mats and I've only ever felt better while using them. Been using then for years.
