I was just looking at the prices of riads in Morocco with #[1] yesterday and it only makes sense to have a nostr unconference there next year, it’s super affordable! Way more affordable than Costa Rica, Japan, Hong Kong, etc. SO MUCH NICER!! And like I said affordable, from the flights to the nightly stays, this specific one on the pic is $100/night like cmon!! If you want people to show up, make it convenient! + Africa needs nostr more than you might think. Willing to discuss setting this up with anyone that’s had experience setting up conferences and hosting pls let me know! #[2] #[3] #[4] #[5] #[6] #[7] #[8] #[9] #[10] Tag someone that can help!! 🀝 image

#[12] can vouch for Morocco - I didn’t three months there in 2000. Great food, scenery and a lifestyle shift that suits the sentiment. From the coast to ancient cities like Fez, Rabat & Marrakech (nicer than Casablanca too) Morocco has it all plus pumping right handers as far as the eye can see in Taghazout πŸ˜ŽπŸŒŠπŸ™Œ
Happy to help anyway we can. However heads up we will be in ES πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡» for halving in early April! LG πŸοΈπŸ’œπŸ™Œ
Japan makes very little sense to me, particularly when there’s an actual Bitcoin hub in the Phillipines with hundreds of merchants onboarded, where the locals speak English (good luck communicating with the Japanese), where the weather and scenery is way better and everything is much cheaper.
Very culturally rich, very contrasting & some cool experiences … for some weird reason they are CRAZY about a Mexican football player from back in the day … also, best orange juice I’ve ever had … 🀞🏼
I am in and willing to support πŸ”₯ Marrakech is beautiful and probably the best place to do this within Morocco πŸ‡²πŸ‡¦. Flight ✈️ to Morocco for most folks probably better Casablanca, then 3 hour train distance to Marrakech.
i especially like being taken hostage during my vacations. that's my absolute fave part of the entire thing. africa doesn't need you. what a coloniser mindset. conferences are a waste of time and money, and entry points for pyramid schemes.
My bad, it’s Mastercard and β€œNon-registered limits of 200 USD per card. Registered limits of 500 USD per card. Verified user limits of 1,000 USD per card, up to 10,000 USD per day.” I just grab a couple of the $200 not registered and use em together
I recall buying one of these ($20 or something) and MC asked for my meatspace address on redemption. Do they still do that?
We talked about this at the first beach party I believe? It sounds like a great idea. I personally don't know if I'd go as I cannot keep travelling all over the world, but I would encourage others to do so if they can and support this with all of my πŸ«‚ and πŸ€™πŸ».
i am indeed that same person - unlike jack, i will fuck you right back. and i will discuss the white paper in the spirit of satoshi and how the blockchain is outside it's intent. also, almost all conversations surrounding the blockchain and bitcoin are now for-profit schemes masked in jargon like "unconference". if you are not prepared to have that kind of conversation, don't begin an interaction with me. accuracy is not trolling: it's holding rhetoric and pretentious narratives to accountability when they have the profound ability to harm.
Wouldn’t say it’s a problem. Holding is not illegal. Accepting it for merchants / sellers is right now not allowed, that’s true. But the central bank of Morocco is currently re-considering the whole thing. Hopefully for the good of the moroccon people. Let’s see. But as #[12] said, it’s about #Nostr, a simple protocol πŸ‘€πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
Definitely! Morocco is quite known in France for being a cheap destination - cheap money wise, because there's nothing cheap with the landscapes, cuisine and soul of this country! Also there's a big Moroccan diaspora in France. The only thing I'm not so sure about is the State's stance on Bitcoin πŸ˜…
with language barriers come natural translations all issues but when translation is done through computerised programs, nuance is lost. french is notoriously layered in its nuanced meaning, but is also very literal; add in regional usecase, you have a perfect storm of potential for misunderstanding between english and french. and that's just one language. when coded jargon is translated, especially in "trusted" cases like with the Bitcoin conversation, mucin of the african uptake has occurred because of a complete misunderstanding of the application, use, and scaffolded power relinquishment which occurs. many remote local use cases of Bitcoin are translated twice before they are translated into local dialects from english to french then to african dialect. the most acute problem with the Bitcoin rollout in africa is the complete disconnect between the actuality of its meaning and the manner in which it has been sold to those who have adopted. it is not a sustainable currency system in the way in which its been promoted, nor is it being peddled as such. and, notably, nor is it the intent of the (b)itcoin white paper. Bitcoin as finance offshoot protocols merely use jargon and comprehension gaps to exploit unmined populations. these are not (b)itcoin behaviours. they are identity and consciousness mining theft rings. plain and simple. literal description of what these processes are fronting is a protection against a new age of exploitation in the form of digital colonialism.
One of the beautiful things about nostr world unconferences is the possibility of discovering different places on earth, and, at the same time, coming to a location that may be closer to fellow nostriches living in other parts of the world. As you point out, it is also a way of bringing awareness to nostr, in places where it may be most likely to catch on, due to the openness and need of different solutions. In the process, we also discover unique nostr voices. I love the idea of going to Africa next. Any location will have benefits and tradeoffs. Are you familiar with Morocco? I love its architecture, but I have never been there. I know the stories we hear can be binary in nature and cannot reflect the entirety of a place, nor its beauty and complexity. It is always key to have local input and to take into account possible issues in order to provide solutions. As a woman, sometimes traveling alone, I know I need to be made aware of cultural norms, places deemed safe, areas to avoid, situations to expect, how best to deal with possible issues...
