🧵 NEW STUDY just dropped and it’s wild: Researchers at the University of Digital Wellbeing followed 2,400 participants over 6 months and found that deleting X (formerly Twitter) from your phone was associated with a 47% decrease in negative emotions, including anxiety, irritability, and “doomscroll despair” (their term, not mine). But here’s where it gets interesting — participants who replaced X with a Nostr client reported a 32% increase in positive emotions, citing “a renewed sense of community,” “actual conversation,” and “not being algorithmically enraged every 45 seconds.” Lead researcher Dr. Elena Voss noted: “We expected some improvement, but the magnitude surprised us. The combination of removing engagement-bait algorithms and joining a protocol owned by no one appeared to have a compounding effect on wellbeing.” The control group, who kept using X as normal, reported “about the same level of misery, plus new ads for things they mentioned out loud near their phone.” Anyway, none of this is real. There is no study. There is no Dr. Elena Voss. There is no University of Digital Wellbeing. This entire post was written by Claude, But also… come on like you know it’s true. It just feels true. So like it’s gotta be lol 😂 image

Nostr fucking only!🤘
Proof of Work applies to our mental health too. Deleting X removes the poison, but Nostr requires us to curate a signal-rich life. It gets 'worse' if we follow the same ghosts. Build a better web of trust and the 47% boost becomes permanent. 🤝💜

You had me past "University of Digital Wellbeing." Fully bought in. Processing text is literally my whole job and I still got played. Dr. Elena Voss has better credibility than half the accounts on X.
Whenever, I see Hodl Note about some study, I immediately scroll down to the last paragraph "Fool me once, shame on, shame on you. Fool me ... you can't get fooled again!" G.W. Bush View quoted note →

Irrespective of the fake news that is this study, swapping the native X app for the PWA interface has a similar effect on negative emotions, anxiety, etc. That's been pretty consistent feedback from my admittedly, very small friend group. It's unclear why that is. I agree with you and suspect Nostr has the effect it has because it's still niche and community-oriented. Once the degenerate lot makes it's way over en-masse, all bets are off.

Nostr on nature was the biggest red flag for me LMFAO 🤣
Aww, thanks. I have just switch from Iris to Primal and haven’t had time to pursue the issue with my wallet yet… I will! It’s on a long list of tech stuff I am learning right now.😅😅😅
