yes, it's because they haven't really got a plan for monetization and their VCs are probably angsty about that so they are just trying to herd people into their app and try to lock them in without being too obvious they are doing lockin. making interoperability problems with the rest of the network is obnoxious behaviour in this community and at least some of us (eg you and me) point this out, though my description of the problem is more technical. miljan and paul keating don't seem to care or listen, and the trolling behaviour i got one time about a year ago from one of their dev/promoters was absolutely disgusting. blatant brigading and psychological manipulation being attempted. being the main and biggest VC funded project in nostr, their investors, and devs, have very little imagination and 4 years ago were probably building shit on AWS, and have no authentic concern for decentralization.

Yea, I feel like raging out about it is the wrong tactic. Just makes me look like a "hater." I find it odd that so many bigger accounts talk big about nostr is open and decentralized yada yada, then opt to use only one client. The technical caching server argument, that I'm guessing you were questioning is a much deeper thing entirely, and one I don't fully understand. But emojis and a one liner code change I think I can safely say I understand completely.
