Seed Saving Tips: For jalapeños: Keep in mind that peppers will cross pollinate with other varietes of pepper, so isolation or caging may be necessary to preserve genetic purity. Allow the pepper to fully mature, than cut it open and remove the seeds. Spread out the seeds to dry for about two weeks. Store Jalapeno M hot pepper plant seeds in a cool, dry place for up to two years. Seed saving tips can be found for all of our crops at:

Thank you! I made sure to include seed saving in all of the grow guides I have on the website cause if you have the means to do it. By all means do it. It’s the isolation part that’s tough cause once bees get buzzing. There ain’t much I can do. lol.
Yep. Until you realize you have only these hybrids. You want to try the old ones but cant. A grower i used to be friends with spent way too much time explaining this to me. I didn’t really get it either but I guess its rare for these hybrids to be “better” Takes like 1000’s of generations to get something interesting. Instead you just get sickly plants or super susceptible to parasites and stuff.

Half truth. Be bold, experiment. I’ve been doing this for over two decades. Sometimes you get a weak cross, but more often than not you get something truly outstanding adapted to your micro climate. I have bred my own melons, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, peas, beans, squash, onions, basically all the crops we eat. Some I have stabilized others I continue to add genetics. There have undoubtedly been failures but to me this is joy of gardening. Check out Joseph Lofthouse, landrace gardening for further info.
