Interesting way to think about #bitcoin PoW on a global per capita basis:
The Bitcoin network currently has about 1 Zettahash/second and there are 8.23 billion people on earth. That's 125 gigahash/second per person. That's well below even the simplest of home miners. If you run a Bitaxe Gamma (500 GH/s) you're covering the hashpower for 4 people and if you have a Bitaxe Gamma (1.2TH/s) you're providing 10 people's worth of hash power.

Interesting but rerun the numbers based on hodler's since only those with skin in the game have incentives to mine.
Or, my preferred way is hash per bitcoin. How much hash rate secures each individual coin? If you have that you can figure out if you are hashing your share to secure your stack. So simple numbers a flat whole coiner should be hashing 1/21,000,000*current global hash rate.
Ooh, I like the hash per bitcoin metric! And that also scales based on one’s stack which is a good way to think of it vs a flat rate.
That’s currently 47 TH/s per coin. That’s about half of a Bitmain Antminer S19.
Yeah, I did this math before and realized that a lot of OGs or even class of 21 are definitely not carrying their own weight. The best bitaxe is only 1TH.
