I live in a country where the government social net provides most of those services to those who need it. The trouble I see is, until we move back to a hard money standard breaking out of the cycle of reliance on government hand outs is incredibly difficult if not impossible for most. Wealth gap is increasing, and we’re seeing Multi generations of families stuck on welfare , in state housing, unable to break out of their situation.
There are also those who it’s been made to easy to recover UBS services. They’re addicted to it with little incentive to break out, lazy with no drive to be productive members of society.
To make UBS work I think we need;
1. A hard money standard,
2. return to natural state of deflation,
3. some sort of social contract where you need to give more than you get back to your community.
I think Switzerland and Singapore have good examples of public service obligations for citizens. Train them, foster relationships with people outside their usual circles, institute some national patriotism.
