I figured out that I can go off-grid for about $1600. That doesn't include solar panels, as I picked up a couple of used 295w panels a couple of years ago for $100-$150 each.

And charge controller! 300 Ah LiFePo battery -> $300-$350 4000 W Inverter -> $300-$330 50 A charge controller -> $170 The rest of the cost is 0000 size cables, bus bar, breaker (or fuse), and a switch, since I'll be moving batteties between their charging station and our home.
