This is why Tea Party were smart in working to co-opt an existing party. Too bad it turned into MAGA. This is a long game strategy but could be viable to try again. Dems fight this internally so not an option with them. Been observing interesting developments with some trying this on the Greens. Libertarian party might be worth infiltrating too

I think most party reps will run republican and caucus “American” like Sanders does with Independent. If it grows big enough they can change the voting laws to allow/favor 3rd party candidates, but that is dis-incentivized.

That was pretty much their explicit plan back in the early 2000s I had a bunch of friends who participated at the time and they were very open about it.

Many of them ended up being idiots 🤣 I do like the idea but implementation obviously needs improvement. I'm not even sure it's fully viable anymore cause I feel we will be moving away from even the appearance of a "fair" electoral system soon enough.
