Rage against the machine are so fucking lame. Remember when these losers went full Covid nazi? Like yeah bro “rage against the machine” as long as you arrive at the same conclusions as Harvard, the NYT, Goldman Sach’s, Blackrock and the Democrats. But if you have a small business fuck you. Bunch of rich commies cosplaying as revolutionaries, only to become old hypocrites raging for the machine. View quoted note →

I was raised on Rage. I completely agree and yet when one of their songs hits I still want to rip the face off my high school math teacher.

O know, but I can sing some of his songs ignoring this shit. The feeling is right, they only are raging the wrong machine.

I didn’t know that, it was always a weird form of propaganda to me as a high schooler but I did enjoy that first album.
Yep. same on the music side. But I recognize & genuinely appreciate uniqueness & craftsmanship for what it brings. I think that’s why I have such a hard time connecting with most modern music.

This is a "separate the art from the artist" situation for me. I still think their first three albums rip, despite whatever nonsense they're up to now.

Some of the best bands are the ones 99% of people have never heard of. But chances are you will disagree with me.
Thanks for sharing! I didn’t know that she made a video to that song. 🥰 Iyah May is such a talented artist and she deserves much more reach for her work. 🙏

Their music was brilliant but not sure they knew exactly what they were saying. I mean, those things are not the American dream of the Founders, more so collectivist socialists (fascists, communists), which Americans fought against. America has drifted towards fascism with a lot of socialist policies implemented, one of which is the central bank. Regardless, good music but Tom MacDonald and Iyah May appear more coherent and aligned with the American dream of independence.

You support orange man. Don’t show your hand by dipping your toes into intellectual subjects. Your ambiguous “profound” post serve you better.
100% this. he's so fucking brainwashed he hasn't said one word about trump and his nazi brigade marching the streets of america harassing and killing US citizens, but he is sad about a band saying bad things about his orange god. brainwashed as fuck.

You can make this argument about anyone. Humans are imperfect.
Come on, dude. You can't expect them to stay poor forever. They made good music and got rich out of it. & Now their situation is the situation of every successful artist. They become the prisoners of their own success, Bound to remain in the persona until it doesn't work. Think of Eminem for example. He is 55 and he comes on stage acting like he's still 25 because that's what people came to see. No one is really interested in the real 55-year-old Eminem. Everyone is here for the 'persona'

conflation. difference is in hypocrisy of it all. Eminem’s not ‘captured’ and he’s not making living off something he’s not - dude’s just old

I thought this was obvious but the band was against capitalism and capitalisms use of government for imperialism and profits from exploitation. They hated the military industrial complex and oppression. They never said they were against science.

Were they? The guitarist has denied that
Ha! Nice! I was quite impressed with their first LP when it came out - Went to see them live that same year - brought my giant VHS camcorder that I lugged everywhere back then for fun. Their goons took my tape and kicked me out. 🖕😆🖕Haven't listened to those posers ever since.
