It would be cool to fire harden it and treat it with bear fat. It would really bring out the grain and be one traditional way of finishing the surface. Can’t wait to see the finished product. Do you think you will leather-wrap the handle and maybe have a feather and bead adorned tassel? I love these projects.

I’ll probably burn the grain to darken it and make a patina then run some boiled linseed over it. It’ll get a strap, possibly to be beaded next year ( my wife is busy beading my regalia rn) I’m not sure what blade I’ll put into it yet. maybe some crazy looking flint or obsidian. I’m thinking of abalone inlays rather than brass tacks too. And I saw a couple with a circle hole cut through the butt of the stock- I like the look and also less weight overall. It is usable - and properly sized for me.
