from time to time, nostr seems less active. from time to time, old nostriches post less often. from time to time, activity and engagement seem down. is that the case? perhaps from time to time, but overall, over the last 6 months, nostr is about the same or even slightly higher in weekly active users. image we see other networks growing, outpacing nostr, but no one said decentralization was going to be easy. we have a massive uphill battle ahead of us, and we're mostly going forward without a clear path, making our own as we push forward. it's okay to struggle. this helps define the problems that need to be resolved. i haven't been saying to create notes and send zaps every single day for the past two years, because i have nothing else to say. i say it, because it's a constant reminder that all of you, every single npub, to continue contributing, because this *IS* hard and *YOUR* contributions do matter. nostr's not dead and has a bright future ahead. #imapoet keep building.

Consolidation. I remember when Dan Held said emphatically that Nostr can’t succeed. That was 2 years ago with many less daily active users. I really don’t care about the stats. My homies are here. This is the protocol that has a ton of potential for novel outcomes and dynamics. And most importantly it has been designed in a way that upholds the ethos’ I care about. I’ll be here as long it’s functional.
Because Nostr is not addictive since it does not have dopaminergic algorithms. And it tends to be used more specifically to publish information that is at risk of censorship, rather than replacing the time needed for other aspects of life, as the internet used to be.

Why is nostr barely getting better after two years? Why are relays, the backend of Nostr, still the same? It's like nobody knows what they are doing here..... The competitors to Nostr know what they are doing
That's also a good point. If we don't have addiction based applications then, sure, it makes sense to see less frequent notes from a lot of people.

Waves of censorship and misinformation spinning. Over time, nostr will win against it's "competition". Even the fediverse is corrupted. Right now, the majority still believe in social media and in platforms, not protocols. One day,

I'm here lurking most of the time. I can't stand other social media.
I just realized I could have made that rhyme: Maybe of tortoise 🐢 and hare 🐇 'Twill be the case, Slow and steady wins the race...? #imapoet and didn't even realize it 😄
This is the way. Technology works best when it fades into the background. Users don't know that they're using all of the different protocols that make up their experience inside Safari or Chrome. They're just using their favorite web browser. The same will happen for Nostr. People will just be using their favorite social experience.

Nostr does not, but a app or client might just do that. Imagine Elon Musk mutating Twitter into a nostr app... I am not sure why he would do that but I don't see a reason he could not

Great read. I've come to realize that the real strength of Nostr lies in the concentration of talented developers. In order for Nostr to gain widespread adoption, we need to invest more in new device paradigms. While the rise of mobile devices has locked us into walled gardens, there are still domains where their influence has yet to extend. I believe that we should allocate more resources to clients in 3d virtual spaces, fostering deeper collaboration among nostr developers. By doing so, we can also address the issue of inadequate coordination among developers working on open protocols.
