I was kidding (but not). They play a long game while reducing our attention span to that of gnats. Isolating us (cellphones/CoViD1984), atomizing us (divide and conquer) and near (?) total surveillance have nearly completely removed our ability to organize. “Animal farm,” “1984” and “A Brave New World,” were dire warnings.
