I live in the run-by-covidiots prairies where up to date vaccines haven't been available. I have gotten every vaccine that was made available but the most recent one was targeted at strains that were barely circulating, and that was a year ago. I would hope that they offer some more up to date ones soon but so far I haven't heard of any.

No, it's fucking not. It is based on evidence. Covid is a real virus that really is spreading in my country(though not *as much* in my province right now), and really does cause damage to people who get it. And vaccines are a critical tool in preventing its spread, and the damage it causes.

Flu shots might give some protection (the adjuvant gets the immune system going) but that would only be transient and not very effective. The flu is a very different family of virus and, generally, i would not expect much for cross protective immunity from a flu shot.
A covid vaccine is specifically targeted to get your body to protect yourself against a strain of covid. If we could target a trivalent 24.D XDV.1 / 25I BA.3.2 / JN.1 that would be ideal. But I don't think the next round of vaccines will do that [we'll see]

I don't particularly like getting vaccines, especially mrna vaccines. They really take the wind out of me and make me tired/groggy for like a day, and I tend to faint when I get needles about 30% of the time. It's not pleasant but *it's necessary to protect both others, myself and it's the right thing to do* so I put up with it.
