Banks making $10 billion a year on overdraft fees is diabolical, literally all from people with negative money

Banks approve overdrafts just to charge you. Being broke is expensive.
$10 billion extracted from people whose accounts already hit zero.
Being broke became a revenue stream.
Banking isnβt even a job. There is no work being done. They donβt even have the money theyβre loaning out. π€‘
Since I moved my money to Bitcoin, my "Relationship Manager" at the bank seems less interested in our relationship π
Amazing how cheap it is to transact onchain
9 of it is from some guy in Canada buying RAM.
Wow
Yet the banks say if stablecoin issuers are allowed to pass on interest to consumers the banks will fail

Bankers solved the blood from a stone problem
Hey man they have to follow all the compliance regulations that they created, which both indefinitely centralize and cement their control as well as prevent their disruption or disintermediation.
And every thing else is not legal tender. Gold isnβt money itβs an investment π
Former banker here, and thatβs not even the worst of it. We had our account balance algorithms for overdrafts tuned to be out of order based on the amount of the transaction rather than in chronological order of a transaction. So, you might have had the money to cover the $3 charge at the start, but because there were subsequent transactions in the same timeframe, say another charge for $30 and then $15, but you only had a balance of $25 it wouldnβt cover the $3 charge and would have gone towards the $30 charge, failed on it and then also failed for the $25 and then finally the $3 charge, which was the first one and should have been covered by available funds. Absolute rape, on purpose. There were some other scams the bank did and I eventually quit.
funny, the "relationship manager" at my bank (well, credit union) is REALLY interested in all kinds of really personal details all of a sudden. Felt like being called into the principal's office for the crime of "depositing some money in a bank without asking someone's permission".

Fucking disgusting
My dad would love you, he was a banker but he refuses to join the Nostr. Power to you for not sticking with the BS
I actually had my account suspended once as I tried to move money to a known Bitcoin exchange. I had to phone them to open the account account.
They were trying to tell me how risky Bitcoin was and that they suspended my account for my own protection.
Two days earlier, the bank had made headlines for buying $164M of Bitcoin, so I simply asked why they were buying it?
They didn't have a good answer, so they released my funds, but still blocked that transaction, so I moved the funds to another account and bought from there π
yeah banks REALLY don't like competition from an institution they can't bribe
I donβt use exchanges anymore because fuck kyc. But I did have an experience like that once and I told them it was for something unrelated to bitcoin. I think it was strike. I told them I was going to send money to someone. The workers are just following a protocol I donβt think they give a shit. But it did piss me off at the time that they could do that with βmy money.β
> The workers are just following a protocol I donβt think they give a shit.
'giving a shit' is incompatible with having *that* job. Either you hang up your moral scruples with your coat in the employee room or you find another job than being a tool of the banksters, there really isn't much other options
>But it did piss me off at the time that they could do that with βmy money.β
Definitely. The very idea of "my money" is getting so alien from people as the banks convince everyone to get into so much debt that even just having money at all is getting foreign.
