We are convinced that we are living in an age where, thanks to AI, it is no longer clear what is true and what is false – the difference being that now we know this, whereas before it was the same and we believed everything.
The real risk of the AI age is not falsehood, but epistemic apathy: ‘I don’t know what is true, so I might as well not bother finding out.’

Attestations and WoT will help us navigate this.

Interesting.
It always comes down to "who said what". Now we have a cryptographic social graph as a substrate for emerging reputation, hard to earn but easy to throw away at th first lie

I have yet to give up hope that people will go the Cyberpunk route, just abandon parts of the internet and have hermetically sealed local networks and real-life interactions.
(In the world of the Cyberpunk pen-and-paper, AI are mostly misanthropic sentient entities, ruling large sections of "the Net", as the creators called the internet in the late 80s, sections which needed to be walled of from more localized and/or wireless networks)
Sign the content. Nostr does it for you. Outside of it, sign your videos, or data with GPG. Do it before governments will try to roll out their own signature programm exactly because of AI
And the advantage is that it forces people to be more skeptical.
I think we’re now in a place where irl is the differentiator. Meeting actual ppl in a real room breathing the same air is where we’ll explore meaning, confirm signal and maybe even collaborate on a thing or two
Everything and all that you perceive is entirely created by your nervous system based on some vibrations and radiations we actually know nothing about. My highest hope about AI is that it will force more and more humans to realize that.
Yes ... AI doesn't change anything fundamental about "know your source".
The task of journalism requires a clear chain of custody of information. Good journalism has been doing this for 100+ years. WoT and attestation can fundamentally supercharge these processes.
“Truth” is a subtle form of manipulation. Truth= “do as i say”. Otherwise you wouldn’t care what others believe.
Hence; touch grass, build meaningful relationships and community
So true!
I can clearly test what’s true are false it’s called real discernment. That we weren’t taught people love throwing the word around but they truly wasn’t ever taught they like one must discern. They keep it up I’ll just start showing people the truth that we wasn’t ever taught true discernment and the shepherds didn’t do their jobs.
