The hurdle for GrapheneOS support was always the hardware bar: a dedicated secure element, verified boot you can relock with a custom signing key, and years of timely security patches. Most Android phones fail that combination, which is why Pixels held exclusivity.
Is GrapheneOS pre installed from the factory going to be an option?
Key word "First". I'm sure in the future cheaper phones will available. Congratulations. Great news.

I guess no Moto for me 😞
From a production perspective, can anyone tell me if israel has had its filthy fingers on any piece of the hardware? Like the new iphone?
Personally, I feel like all those fancy features are what's driving the price up β€” so I doubt this phone will ever be mainstream. To me, it seems destined to stay a niche product: made by tech nerds, for tech nerds, rather than us "regular folks" who simply want to reduce our digital footprints without reducing our savings. My guess is most people just want a "normal" phone: an okay camera, decent storage and GrapheneOS. That combination alone would send me straight to the store.

I don't need it now, but perhaps in 2 years when its price drops by half (or second hand) and I would still get 5 years of Android updates, it would make more sense.

In the past I had 2 Motorola phones and I was happy with them (I still have them). I am glad there is another option to Google, even when it is pricy at this moment. I believe that with time, the prices will drop eventually. I would rather pay bit more with only 5 years of updates just not to pay Google ever again.
