Math teacher - better money -> better future
Anyone experiencing problems with @strike , just got my DCA cancelled because of an unsuccessful bank deposit, but i just bought some through instant buy a few days ago.
It's been set up for about 6 months now with no issues until now and my bank balance is sufficient.
Tried to re-enable the weekly buy and it was declined again.

Is my bank blocking bitcoin purchases??

I watched the matrix for the first time yesterday and I see why bitcoiners love it so much.
Most people are fine being batteries for a system that feeds off of them.
Ignorance is bliss as they say.
I'm not going to lie, this is my first cycle REALLY being invested and understanding what bitcoin is.
I was around in "crypto" back in 2018 after hearing about it from a friend but not doing my research. Left a few hundred dollars on coinbase and called it a day.
A switch flipped last year after I saw BTC pumping on the news in March and decided to really start researching it. I read the bitcoin standard, started learning more, and everything clicked. Normie -> Maxi happened really fast.
I've never felt calmer in my life since.

something I love about teaching math that I've been thinking about recently is in a way it resembles proof of work.
I've found myself saying the phrase "I can't do the work for you" a lot recently, not because I don't WANT to help my students but because I DO want to help them.
when you can't do a certain skill in math, the only way to get better is to learn the foundations, and put in the time and effort to practice. There's no way to magically aquire this without doing the work.
it's just like Bitcoin. Not only from a literal POW perspective because miners need to put in the work to secure the network, but also in the studying of Bitcoin. There's no shortcuts in learning everything you can about it. Put in the time, and do the work. And Bitcoin will reward you.

getting paid in bitcoin is a different type of feeling, glad to have started using direct deposit with strike for payouts from my twitch streams.
It's motivated me to be a better content creator and has made receiving donations / gifts / subscriptions feel absolutely amazing. I've always tried to be as appreciative as possible of my supporters but knowing that more support = more sats is really insane and motivating to continue doing what i love.
this past year has been so life changing
Since joining nostr I've just been trying to take in information and see what it is about, it really is mind blowing.
It's refreshing how real everything feels compared to other social media spaces. I never really posted or used many others anyway but its just nice to see the originality / authenticity here.
I'm trying to think how I can bring value to others, but I've been enjoying my time just reading things here and zapping people when I see something cool.
Also, nos2x is pretty awesome, and so are you
Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome and the zaps. It's honestly crazy to see the amount of replies already.

I'm Mr. T, a math teacher turned bitcoiner.
My goals with nostr are:
To connect and converse with other bitcoiners
Share personal insights related to bitcoin
Ask questions about the future of bitcoin
Do my part to help further bitcoin education across the world
Learn from others on here
As someone who is very passionate about education and teaching students to be critical thinkers in my everyday life, and someone who is also passionate about bitcoin being a tool to improve people's lives, I feel like these two roads have to cross somehow...
Maybe this isn't the best space for "educating" others since most people on here are bitcoiners already, but yet again there probably are a bunch of like minded people who want to see a better future.
I should add, in addition to Robin's podcast, the conversation specifically with @less was what inspired me to get started on here. I've seen so much good news around Nostr and am very excited to hopefully have somewhere to connect with other bitcoiners.
Jeff and Robin's conversation was so fruitful and really inspired me to join this new wave of information.
Merry Christmas fellow builders... this is my first post here on nostr.
I've been hearing a lot about this through various podcasts, especially @Robin Seyr, I'm excited to start connecting with fellow bitcoiners.
In the real world I'm a math / cs teacher and a casual video game streamer on twitch.
However, neither of these spaces are optimal to discuss bitcoin related topics, so I've found my way here.
Going to try to shoot for one note a day going forward!
Any tips for a new nostr user to get connected? (Set up with primal on android so far)
