Announcing ... BitcoinPR: a Bitcoin full node implemented from scratch in Rust. Not a wrapper around Core or a source fork - Full consensus validation, script interpreter, P2P stack, all re-implemented in pure-rust. Here's what's inside 🧵
-Full consensus validation: headers-first IBD with parallel block download from 24 peers, complete script verification for legacy, SegWit, and Tapscript, RocksDB-backed UTXO set with crash-consistent recovery, and chain reorg handling.
-30+ BIPs implemented - including BIP 324 encrypted transport with real ElligatorSwift key exchange, compact blocks (152), block filters (157/158), and Taproot (340/341/342). Plus Tor and I2P support with onion service auto-creation.
-It's also a mining node out of the box: Stratum V1 + SV2 gateway (works with cgminer, bitaxe, etc.), template provider, share tracking, and a Datum protocol client for template-sovereign pool mining, OCEAN-style.
-Optional features: an Electrum v1.4 server with mempool-aware scripthash indexing, and an embedded block explorer — live timechain visualization, expandable transaction flow diagrams, mempool fee charts.
-Credibility check: it runs in a 6-node Docker interop cluster alongside Bitcoin Core 31.0, Knots, btcd, and libbitcoin — syncing, relaying, and mining in agreement across implementations. 279 unit tests + an 18-test end-to-end suite.
-Big caveat: this is experimental software. Not audited, not battle-tested — do NOT use it to secure real funds. But if you want to hack on Bitcoin internals in Rust, the code is MIT and PRs are open:
