You will have to repeat this every time you upgrade to a new version of Knots for custom parameters that aren't in the Knots configuration UI. SSH into your Start9 server and issue the following commands to add custom parameters to your bitcoin configuration. Replace the version of Knots in the path as appropriate It is a good practice to make a backup copy of your configuration template sudo cp /embassy-data/package-data/volumes/bitcoind/assets/28.1.0.2/compat/bitcoin.conf.template /embassy-data/package-data/volumes/bitcoind/assets/28.1.0.2/compat/bitcoin.conf.template.original sudo nano /embassy-data/package-data/volumes/bitcoind/assets/28.1.0.2/compat/bitcoin.conf.template Add a section at the bottom. ## CUSTOM PARAMETERS maxuploadtarget=512 Save the configuration (CTRL-O to save, CTRL-X to exit) Restart your Knots service using the UI Verify that your change to the template has been applied as your bitcoin startup configuration: sudo podman exec -it bitcoind.embassy less /root/.bitcoin/bitcoin.conf or if you want to operate within the container: sudo podman exec -it bitcoind.embassy bash less /root/.bitcoin/bitcoin.conf (other commands - BE CAREFUL NOT TO CORRUPT YOUR CONTAINER) exit

In retrospect it should have been obvious that #Bitcoin Core was eventually going to be bad for bitcoin. Bitcoin’s strength lies in its distributed nature with competing incentives. A “core” in bitcoin should be avoided at all costs. Node runners should think hard before upgrading to Core v30. We showed our strength and beat the “big blockers” in 2017. We should do the same to the “big egos” of 2025. Ossify at v29 or switch to Knots to make your voice heard. Switching to Knots is a breeze and your accountability to protecting the network we all rely upon to store our wealth.

While it is nice to see governments capitulate to #bitcoin don’t confuse the new “friendly” regulations with the reality that #btc is permissionless and can’t be stopped. This is a distinction with a huge difference.
