I paint in oil. Inspired by time, silence, and light. Each work is unique and for sale in Bitcoin. β†’ https://isolabellart.it.com Paintings notes: #isolabellart Art gallery: https://gallery.isolabellart.it.com
I had a long chat with myself this morning. At one point I asked myself: given that user numbers are stagnating and the atmosphere on Nostr is getting stranger by the day, what do we really have going for us? After careful consideration, I came to the conclusion that I was absolutely right. I believe that what we have is extremely valuable and impossible to replicate: 1. A protocol that promises a sovereign Internet, whilst creators continue to fund developers who build tools for other developers. 2. A permissionless network of over 1,000 active relays, ready to carry anything except a sustainable economic model for content creators. 3. An ecosystem of hundreds of projects receiving investment, grants and donations, provided they do not produce content that people actually want to read or watch. 4. A die-hard group of users who hold their own keys and aren’t going anywhere, mainly because they keep arguing amongst themselves about why creators are leaving. It seems to me a very solid foundation on which to continue funding developers and systematically ignore those who bring in the audience. (with sympathy πŸ«‚πŸŽ¨)
If today were the last day of my life, I’d spend it painting because it’s the only thing that makes me happy. The feeling of losing myself in the painting and forgetting everything else is priceless. What would you do?
image PRIMROSE 40x30cm, oil on board proof-of-work in progress... The pink light begins to permeate the blues. It doesn't dominate, it filters through, softens everything. The mountains gain weight, the water reflects what the sky breathes. The boat isn't there yet. It will come, still at the centre. A simple painting, but simplicity demands precision. I write a lot when I’m sad. I paint a lot when I’m happy. When I stop writing here, think of me as happy.
People who wake up feeling sad have often had unhappy dreams that they don’t even remember.
β€œIf today I am worth nothing, I will be worth nothing tomorrow either. But if tomorrow they discover that I have value, it will mean I have it today as well. After all, wheat is wheat, even if at first people mistake it for grass.”
To sum up the whole drama on Nostr, I get the impression that we’re in good hands, that nobody’s out to line their own pockets, and that we can never have enough popcorn, right?
