The zap system in #Nostr goes back to the timeless tradition of recognising values. This is the present and future of online interactions.

If the #Academic and #Teaching community were to enbrace #Nostr and the #Value4Value philosophy, this would bring about a major shift in teaching and universities. In turn, society would benefit as more young graduates would come out of the universities with philosophical grounding in independence and #Decentralisation, and #Value would be emphasised. Yet #Nostr as a protocol is as simple and usable as http. Where to next? What shall we do with the tech stack?
#TIL about #V4V and how this philosophy, if you will, fits within the ‘zap’s you do on #Nostr. Zaps are value creation and value recognition, they are not for ‘hodl’, :-)
Every tiny amount creates value.

Are there videoconferencing solutions built on top of #Nostr protocol?
We appreciate #Nostr is a fantastic protocol to share short form #Microblogs and posts (events; twitter/facebook like but better), longer text notes (blog posts), host real time audio conferences (nostr nests). But is there any videoconferencing tool/app built on top of this protocol? The reason I ask is we can use Nostr for Telemedicine/Telehealth applications in resource poor settings in the world and equally in resource-rich settings during emergencies (war, environmental disasters, and others) where events/notes etc can be shared and stored-forwarded through distributed relays and lives can be saved.
Not only that, using zaps and SATS can build a "bridge" between people who can afford (even tiny amounts) to reach supplies and provisions to people who need them most.
Thoughts?
An interesting explanation of #Nostr protocol,

The part about #Nostr I like is how neatly I can integrate #RSS feeds, #ActivityPub and Nostr stream all in one feed. With tweaking of relays, I can practically be in 'rss reading mode', #Fediverse mode or just do Nostr.
How cool can it be?

Was wondering how might it be possible to transmit evaluable code components via Nostr, say #Observables and #Visualizations?

* iris.to
* coracle.social
* astral.ninja

#Nostr in the classroom
Teaching for example, is basically a social phenomenon. Teachers/Professors and their students are part of a social network which best thrives when this social network is such that everyone participates in a secure, interesting ways. Imagine a social network that has all the elements of like/favourite, share (locally and with the world uncontrolled by anyone), within the context of a classroom but also works equally well outside of the classroom.
As a student, you are part of a social network where you receive information from your professor and your fellow students, but at the same time, you can _either_ communicate ONLY with your fellow students OR with your professor and the fellow students, or with the professor alone, or whatever, only you control and tweak the conditions of what information you want. At the same time, you want this network to be able to connect you to the rest of the world.
This is possible with #Nostr. Imagine a class of four students where the professor (or the IT people at the University) set up a server for the class that serves as a private "relay" for the class. Students can pull from that relay and the professor pushes into that, and then depending on the context, students can either "push" into that relay or create a separate relay where they can talk with only themselves.
These can open up unprecedented teaching opportunities in a classroom or university.
:-)On #Fediverse, I have an address `arinbasu1@social.arinbasu.online`. I can jump into my #Pleroma instance and share whatever I want to share. Can I use `arinbasu1..` when I jump into a #Calckey server or a #Mastodon server? I cannot. I have to tie my identity to a server and then using _only_ that server I can communicate with the rest of the Fediverse. Which is fine but also creates a bloat. I can sheet anchor myself in my own instance at `social.arinbasu.online` and can read/write but to meet new people, and new conversations, I will still need to visit other instances. I wish there was an easier way to do things than that. This is also an aspect that many people, who come to fediverse from a walled garden such as twitter, rue, as they find it hard to negotiate with the medium first and then they will have to `create identities` everywhere first to read/write content. So, in this sense #Fediverse is like email, that with one identity you can read/write content and share with people.
Yet, you need to create separate identity in `each server` you have your account. It is not like you can push/pull to/from everything everywhere. #Nostr has upended this limitation, it seems. Here, I _start_ with an id, which, in my case, is, arinbasu@iris.to, but then with this id, I also get a public id ,
npub17vs8nsgxt2r3saj6w4089z05xvvkahj7urqs7jkdz9329s4cj5qquwmr5w
and a private id.
That private id acts like my login everywhere or all other apps I visit, and that's it. So I can visit any `service` such as damus, or iris, or coracle, login with my associated private id, and I am in. Then everything depends on how I tweak my relay list, as the more relays I will subscribe to, the more I will receive in my Global feed, and the more likely my `voice` will reach wider. I can even store my ideas to my own created relay and read/write when I want if I want.
In theory I will never need another identity with another app unless I need a special user case (even then). The magic is how I decide to tweak my relay list and do what I want to do.
Beat that!
