GM Nostr friends. I put on my knee-high socks today. They're not as much compression as they used to be due to me losing weight, but my shins are warm! GM Nostr friends! Happy Halloween (and Dia de los Muertos Eve to those who celebrate)! And a very happy Bitcoin Whitepaper Day to all y'all. We wouldn't be here without it. We're not planning on doing much tonight. There are/were some bad actor kids in our neighborhood who stole my (retro!) pumpkin basket which was still half full last year, so I have no interest in providing free sugar to the little felons. Instead our friend is coming over for dinner and to watch a few episodes of Resident Alien with us. Should be a good time. I'm looking forward to it. Everyone else hand out candy? Am I just a curmudgeon? I found out last night why Hubby was freaking out over selling some of his silver coins. He was an absolute spaz about it during the day yesterday, and I found out last night (because he's terrible at keeping secrets) that he did the trade in so he could buy me a real Umbrel home server. Love him so much. I was so excited - my current setup is less than stellar, and I've quickly come to rely on it, but generally have to restart every morning as things seem to freeze. So excited for that to come. What a sweet thing for him to do. I am trying to encourage him to use the rest of the money from the silver sale to get a decent ice fishing rig together using his existing trailer. We'll see. GM Nostr friends. I feel stupid today. Got Fully Noded linked to my Umbrel's bitcoin node successfully, but the FN interface is very confusing. Am I just that dumb? It keeps telling me I have UTXOs to redeem, even when I'm trying to SEND funds to another wallet, and the confirmations are taking a very, very long time. Argh. Not much documentation to read either, so I feel like I'm going to just be out the sats I put into it. Ugh, I give up (for now). Anyway, it's Thursday. Cloudy and damp here today. @Yarnlady 🧶 was just talking about soup, and now I think I know what lunch will be! My nose and throat are still gunky, and every morning it's constant hacking for the first hour or so after I get up. Bleh, so over this...whatever this is. At least I have a new @Soapbox Sessions episode to listen to today! Enjoy your day all. Do something unexpectedly nice for someone in your life today.

GM Nostr friends. Trying to motivate myself to get some software testing done today, but all I want to do is read. Preferably on the couch, with a sleeping Lu by my side. And then take a nap. Maybe not in that order. Had to go into the office yesterday for meetings, and a Halloween potluck. Everything went well, but I am just not used to that level of social interaction, and I was wiped by the time I got home. Anyway, enough time procrastinating. Have a good Wednesday, all!

GM Nostr friends! I took some time this weekend to clean the house, touch grass, and do some reading. It was relaxing. Lu and I had some great snuggle time, too. I'll be sad to drop her at doggy daycare tomorrow when I have to go into the office. Found the app Fully Noded and got my Bitcoin & Lightning Cores connected via my Umbrel. That was an unexpected bonus. All the fun new ways to tinker! I also went all-in on @Keychat on my phone, which has just improved so much in a short time. (And saves me from having to have multiple separate Nostr-related apps & wallets installed.) Kudos to them. Happy Monday, y'all.

GM Nostr friends! Getting caught up @Soapbox Sessions latest episode while I stumble around online for a bit this morning. Continuing to play with my Umbrel, testing apps that might be useful and discarding those that aren't. Rather annoyed I can't get an electrum server running because I had to go with a pruned node for my Bitcoin Core, but such is life. Otherwise, just a regular work day here. God is always good, the sun is shining today, and the cookies I made yesterday turned out mostly okay. Definitely won't bring them to my office potluck next week, but it was a good reminder that I absolutely hate baking!

GM Nostr friends. Did I miss the great AWS outage fun? Busy day Saturday. Made it to the gym to start working on building back some muscle, and then ended up helping Hubby clean out his mom's fridge at her house. Probably hasn't been cleaned since they got it ~25 years ago. Wasn't pretty. Sunday we had Bible class and regular church, and then just lay around all day. It was glorious. Now we're back to Monday again, which seems to come faster and faster each week. Have a lovely day, friends.

Must make it through the work day, and then hoping to have time to read and relax this weekend. Hubby is pulling extra hours cleaning up his mom's place after work tonight, so it's probably going to be a very long day without seeing another human. GM Nostr friends. It's not quite noon yet here, so it counts. I've been coughing for a couple weeks now. Permanent tickle in my throat that ebbs and flows. Was going to put socks on this morning, so I sat down on the side of the bed and launched into a coughing fit that ended with me running down the hall to puke in the sink. It triggers my gag reflex something awful. I still haven't put socks on. At this point, I don't know if it's allergies anymore. But I am so tired of it. In other news, I'll probably be helping Hubby with his mom's house some on Saturday before we meet up with some friends for lunch, and then packing for our mini-vacation starting Sunday at an airbnb cabin a couple hours north in lake country. I'll be working the days we're gone, but Hubby doesn't think he'll have enough work to keep him busy. We're taking Lu with us, which is both a relief and a stress of a different kind, as she is very needy in unfamiliar environments. I'm very much looking forward to a change of scenery. I love being near water - if I had the ability, I would buy a house on a lake and drink my cup of coffee looking out over the water every morning. Ahh...weekend. Have a good one, all.

GM Nostr friends! Love you guys. (And gals.) Yesterday I wiped out the Start9 software on my old desktop and installed Umbrel instead. Holy crap, why didn't I start with this in the first place? So much easier and with so many more apps. Also installed Tailscale on my phone, the server, and our Apple TV. I read through some of the documentation and blogs, and it's pretty impressive. Took a long while to figure out the file location of the movies and music I uploaded, but got it hooked into my Jellyfin and was able to confirm on the tv. Never got it working on the Start9 server. So much happy! Stuff like this is probably so basic to so many people on here, but it energizes me. Been feeling just exhausted with all the struggles my dad and Hubby's mom are going through, and just sick of my new boss at work. It was really nice to have some nerd time and allow myself to just lean into the stuff I enjoy for a little while.
