GM Nostr friends. Question for the coffee drinkers: are you a purist (take it black), or do you jazz it up with creamer/flavoring? While I can go either way, I prefer at least some half & half. Managed to snag an early season bottle of peppermint mocha creamer, and the mint is still lingering on my tongue as I type this now. Heavenly. Was having a weird dream this morning before my alarm went off where I was somewhere in the Middle East with some current and old coworkers, and we were trying to pack to get ready to go home. I kept jokingly telling everyone my grandmother was insisting I make it in to work tomorrow as soon as I got back. Brains are weird. Have a good Friday, all.

Nothing interesting to write about this afternoon. My throat is phlegmy and I keep coughing. Thankfully the nose squirt stuff (antihistamine spray) is taking the edge off this allergy season. Lu wedged herself in between my belly and the couch during our lunch nap today and was a sweet little puppurito.

Update: stayed home from church, and slept for close to two hours. Caught the message at the second service online, thankfully. This antihistamine markets itself as non-drowsy, but I beg to differ.😴

GN Nostr friends. I'm jazzed . Hubby asked me to show him Nostr, so I directed him to Primal, Phoenix, and Iris. He scrolled for a sec, then goes, 'So, it's like a basic Facebook from 10 years ago? How many people use it?' Tried to briefly explain all the differences, but he wasn't all that impressed. ...I swear, I will get him to enjoy it, one day.

Anyone selling their own tea blends, sats or fiat? #AskNostr Temps are finally starting to cool around here, which means it's almost time for me to get back into being obsessed with leaves steeped in hot water. I'm down to only some basic green and the bag of chai I've been working on for ages, and my tongue is bored.

GM Nostr friends. It's Friday! I'm very much hoping for a quieter day today. Browsing my Nostr feed, and you all just fill me with such hope. I love our little corner of the internet. Kind of a cloudy, dark day outside, but cozy inside. I'm going to get through some work and then hopefully be able to catch up on Derek and Heather's latest Soapbox episode. I'm so far behind on all my podcast listening this week. Got my coffee, got some sats to zap. Let's go.

Nostr friends, my heart hurts today.

Minneapolis school shooting suspect Robin Westman, what we know

I live in a suburb of St. Paul, the "twin" city of Minneapolis. While not all that close, this is still home. I did my undergrad at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. I spent a lot of time in Minneapolis. While I myself was raised Lutheran, my dad was originally Catholic. These were just babies. The article has a photo of a distraught mother holding her son who must be between 5 and 7 years old, and that's what brought me to tears today. It's so easy to become callous to all the shootings that happen across our country. But these are all people, just living their lives. Expecting to get home, maybe lounge on the couch or eat a bowl of cereal or take a shower and go to bed. But they never again get to go home. I'm not writing to propose any kind of solution. I don't have one. I just...this hurts so much. It always does, and I hope I never stop hurting when I hear of more lives just gone in a blink of pain and fear.

Is there a Nostr-friendly RSS feed reader out there? I'm currently using Inoreader and kinda hate it. #AskNostr

Finally getting around to watching @HODL 's Nostr series. I'm watching # 2: “You Are Meant For More” right now, and had to stop it and take a breath. Right at the 2 minute mark he asks, "Who convinced you that you had to be small?" That hit so hard. My whole life I've been treated like I'm weird. Odd, if you're being polite. I was always interested in technology and how things work. Never cared much about the things other girls my age were interested in. My friend's dad once told me I was an old soul. Somewhere along the way, I internalized all that and mentally hunched around my core interests and personality to protect what I thought had value against what the world said should be important. I put on masks I thought made me at least look like everyone else so I could fit in. I made who I am small for everyone else's comfort. Part of why I love Nostr so much is that I don't feel the need for that constraint here. On other social media, I have to twist to fit in the pre-defined boxes. Here I can just be.

I suppose now it would've been smart to block out my geohash addresses....sigh. Oh Nostr, please don't stalk me. 😜

😖 The face when you were planning a post, and Brave browser decided to freeze up on the Primal page. GM Nostr friends. Feels like my days of cold brew coffee are approaching an end. It's been a little cooler and rainy the last couple days, but I'm not sad about it. As a kid growing up in the US, I was conditioned to love Summer - no school, long hot days of doing whatever I wanted...it was bliss. Did I really love summer the season, or just the time off? These days, it's impossible to sleep when our bedroom stays at 77F overnight. I hate taking the dog for a 10 minute walk and coming back sweating and sunburned (I'm very, very pale). Also: biting insects. Not that winter is a peach either, but as a girl with some padding, I'm more prepared for the cold temps. My vote: Autumn. Crunchy leaves underfoot, a crispness to the morning air, apple season, and all the pumpkin decor I could possibly want. Ah, just thinking about it makes me smile. Go away, August!

Gooooooood morning Nostr friends. It's FRIDAY. Drinkin' my coffee and eating my Greek yogurt (almost typed 'green'. That would've been gross). Had a dream last night that I had to travel on a plane, and for some reason, that triggered "them" taking Lu away from me, and I had to send my dad to apply to go adopt her again before someone else could. Only felt reassured no one was taking her away when she gave me good morning kisses. Brains are weird. The weekend stretches before us, if only we could fly over this whole work day part. We have a friend coming over tonight to binge a couple episodes of the new season of Wednesday. Can't wait!

Had to share this. My brother in law's golden Remy (short for Remington) with their newest batch of chickens. He is the sweetest, most chill pup ever.

I'm trying very hard to undo bad habits I've learned along the way, but wrestling with a bunch of empty cardboard meant for the recycling in our tiny garage and bashing my elbow against a cupboard just set me off on cursing a blue streak. 🤬 Elbow still hurts, and I can feel a bruise forming.

GM Nostr friends! We got another Wednesday on our hands. Did some bowling with Hubs and our mutual friend (who actually introduced us) last night, and I am sore from it this morning. Getting old is not for the faint of heart. My Raspberry Pi 500 is supposed to get delivered today! I needed something cheap since I turned my old System76 desktop into a Start9 server. Very excited to get it and start playing around. The building siding project continues. Very hopeful they'll make enough progress to get past our unit today so the hammering is not directly outside my window. Go enjoy your day, all.

Had amazing tacos last night followed by rainbow sherbet, and headed out soon for some coffee and pastries before we check out and head to an antique store.
