Bitcoin books are boring.
To my mind, we don't need books which explain what it is, and why it's necessary. We already have enough.
However, we do need more nuanced takes. More narratives that connect Bitcoin to freedom.
I'd like to read more books on privacy, freedom tech, homesteading, sovereign health, stoicism, self-improvement, and financial education.
If you are writing on these topics, check the new Konsenses site.
Yes, I'm an editor there, so I'm biased, but over the last 7 years, Konsensus has worked with some of the best-known authors in the Bitcoin and freedom tech space, publishing over 100 titles.
@npub1d3f4...r4xv, @npub14hn6...a32x, @Lyn Alden, @Brian Hirschfield to name but a few.
The submissions process for publishing is now easier and more transparent.
We'll get back to you within one week, and we only work with freedom and self-sovereignty authors.
That means we know how to represent entropy on a book cover and not to edit out terms like 'absolute scarcity'.
Our projects generally go from manuscript to book in hand in less than 3 months.
Plus, we are staffed by real humans (like me).
Got questions about how it works? Just DM.
If you are a freedom-minded writer with an idea you'd like to spread, we're listening.

#books #wristr #bookstr #author #writingSome beautiful and balanced thoughts in this little book by @Roger 9000
"Bitcoin is mythology because Bitcoin is a story," he says.
In fact, I don't agree with this. For me, the network itself is a technological solution to the problem of money.
Electricity, the aeroplane, the internet: these are not stories either.
Yes, we all relate to the myth of Satoshi, but without revealing his identity, his character, Satoshi is simply a mirror to ourselves.
Still, on the next page, Roger writes, "You align with a story, an ideology, that enables you to stand on the shoulders of giants, just like Satoshi."
Profound.
Personally, I think we need more exploration of Bitcoin stories - ones with human agency, three-dimensional characters, and moments of epiphany and change.
This book offers a range of meditations covering several topics.
At the very least, it will make you explore the ideas internally, much more deeply, over time.
Stories are just one of the many themes covered. If you know, Roger, you can probably imagine some of the others.

#bookstr #bookreview #bitcoinGM, and goodbye to Prague. ๐

GM.
Last coffee woth the little grey monster before I fly to @BTC Prague
In the last few days, I've experienced some wild mood swings about working in Bitcoin (it ain't easy, but it's much).
Conferences usually bring out the best in the community.
Looking forward to meet n greets, selling a few copies of @21 Futures, recording podcasts for @White Noise, going to the @600 000 000 000 party, meeting the artists at the gallery, and whatever else this crazy weekend brings.

Does anyone know what Robert Breedlove's current bodyfat percentage is?
It's been more than 48 hours since his last update, and I can't bear to be kept in the dark like this.
GM, nostriches.

GM.
My new passport finally arrived.

Drank some whisky with Bitcoiners in Dublin today.
GN.

I've never touched a shitcoin in my life.
Have you?

Bitcoin doesn't need a marketing team.
Monetary incentives do the work.
Nostr DOES need a marketing team.
But not just enthusiasts going to Bitcoin conferences. It needs a funded team of creators and social experts.
Tutorials for creators and incentives for curators and freedom-minded users to join in.
This wouldn't take more than $300k per year, and could really kick-start the network effects.
Think about it. One big celeb brings 10k users here. They onboard a few friends.
Yes, we have a lot of work to do with development and UX, but without a user base, services will never be able to monetize Nostr infrastructure.
To avoid a chicken/egg situation, we need investment.
Is this something @OpenSats would consider?
Who would be the right people to run the project?

Dear nostr,
Stop fighting each other about Bitcoin.
Start looking at more cat videos.
Sincerely yours,
A bitcoin AND cat owner.

I NEED TO FOLLOW MORE PEOPLE ON NOSTR.
Who would you recommend for deep takes, positive news, tech content for non-devs?
I'm especially looking for IRL and culture content which is not about the Bitcoin price or the latest infight.
Drop your best people below. If I like 'em, I'll zap you both.

Bitcoin needs stories to win.
I am absolutely convinced of this.
Today, I see virtually zero new stories emerging. Not from conferences, not from educators, not from companies, not from builders. Not even from writers.
Problem โก๏ธ solution is NOT a story.
No characters. No struggle. No happily ever after.
... no one cares about your product, service, or app.
Most people in the world are not economists, developers, or even realists.
They only care when something hacks their emotions.
Give them a good story, and you make them care.
Yes, we must build, but without stories, we are just idealists writing code for solutions that will never be implemented.
Is longform broken on Nostr?
I can't seem to draft anything on @YakiHonne or @npub1w0rt...cu4x (Web or app).
Screen completely freezes and I can't paste text (rich or MD)
What am I doing wrong?

Day 751 of trying to change my address in Spain
(this is not an exaggeration)
WTF happened?
For most of this period, I was waiting for the sellers of my property (6 people) to complete various paperwork with the town hall. This allowed them to register their ownership after inheritance, before the property passed to me.
I owned the property as soon as I bought it, but local authorities ha it registered to the deceased until all paperwork was done.
A few months ago, I was finally able to register it as my own. Then I had to pay the backtaxes on the property. Joy.
Anyway, I've been trying to register it as my primary address.
There are two ways to do this:
1. Get an appointment in person, bring 6 separate pieces of paper, and pray that the civil cervant feels like doing their job.
Last time I did this it took 7 visits to the government building and 2 phone call. Also not a joke.
2. Submit the paperwork online.
I went for option 2. Sounds easy, right?
Well, it took 2 hours of research to find the right portal, logins, and documents. 3 hours trying to submit the form, and no joy.
It needs electronic certificates and auto-signing software that I can't use on my mobile phone or computer.
I asked a developer friend for help.
It took us 2 hours to submit the form. Done!
But wait.
The process usually takes 4-6 weeks to approve. (Why???)
I waited.
Yesterday, I logged in to see that one of the forms the text said I DIDN'T need was 'pending submission'. I'd have to submit it.
I filled in the form (asking 10-20 questions to AI to help me find the right codes and numbers).
Unable to submit. Same problem with the autosigning software.
Sigh.
I'll get a fucking appointment in person and waste another morning on this.
Nope. No appointments available.
You have to log in on Friday morning at exactly 8am to reserve an appointment.
The saga continues.
And now I've spent 20 minutes writing about this insanity.
TL;DR
You need a PHD in administration to change your address in Spain.
I do not have a PHD. I only have PTSD.
Delete the bureaucracy.
Delete the state.
I DELETED FACEBOOK AFTER 20 YEARS OF USE.
How should I celebrate?
