Whenever someone points out that follows does not equal trust, reach for this article.
TL/dr: For any question of interest, WoT should use any and every piece of data that is available and relevant to the question at hand.
Should we use follows? Yes.
Should we use explicit, unambiguous "trust" events? Yes.
It's not either-or; it's both-and.

If you want to enable Alice to rate Bob along any arbitrary context, here is a powerful, extensible NIP you can use. It is also a demonstration of how to use the Curated Lists NIP as a building block.

I’ve added some custom NIPs to illustrate the power of Decentralized Lists, using DLists to keep track of contexts (which is essentially an ontology) and using those to manage a system for context-aware ratings. All using kind 9998 and 9999 events, nothing else.

Reminder that our 4th @nosfabrica #wotathon weekly community call is one day away! As usual it will be Thursday (tomorrow) at 4 PM UTC, 11 AM Eastern.
We hope to hear from @SondreB and @vinney...axkl talk about their use of Trusted Assertions for their projects. @ManiMe has proposed some changes to TAs (check his timeline for links to the relevant specs) and it would be great to get feedback from the community on those changes.
We love TAs but that’s not our only focus! If anyone has a particular topic of interest or a project to discuss during the call, mention it in the Signal chat or let one of us know — @Jon Gordon would be best since he’s our MC 🎤!

I’ve been thinking of the long-term purpose of Brainstorm as being a personalized database (a nostr knowledge graph) that is curated with the assistance of your trusted community.
I’m considering a change in the product description. Yes, Brainstorm helps you curate a database. But more than that: Brainstorm helps you direct your attention. If you’re interested in Topic X, then Brainstorm tells you to focus your attention on these npubs over here, not those npubs over there.
So your database gets populated with data authored by the most trusted npubs on that topic. But maybe it’s less about collecting & managing your data, and more about how & where to focus your attention.
This doesn’t change how Brainstorm works or what it does. Just a shift in marketing.
