Nice work! My head has been going in much the same direction. Manually curation followers rather than letting my social network emerge from my interactions seems obviously wrong. I do think there's a place for a hard follow, a social graph pin of sorts, but not more than that. Most of all I'd rather replace likes with zaps-only.
