I use markdown a lot but shall I check out asciidoc? Oh yes, I love stuff like this. Are there any JavaScript plugins for it to incorporate in static websites?? View quoted note →

I was responding to a post by @olivegroveeggs about photographing the moon with a smartphone and it’s not easy at all. This is the best I’ve ever managed. image

Having got back into Lightroom again this week, though the jury is out on whether I prefer to stick to it or adopt Affinity Photo fully, is yet to be decided. Anyway digging into the archives a little bit to look at some images from last summer on the south coast of England. Southbourne near Bournemouth is a nice spot to explore and photograph with breathtaking views along the coast towards Hengistbury Head, Isle of Wight. Now beach huts are fun aren’t they! Could never bloody afford one of the buggers though. image

Over the last two days I’ve been sharing the photos from my visit to Whitchurch, part one in my bridges project and this is the more traditional angle and the light was starting to settle down after a bright August day. Pangbourne meadows were very busy but I found a quiet patch to take this photo. I love this bridge, it’s an absolute beauty. It was first built in 1792 and has been renovated a couple of times, most recently in 2014. It’s one of the remaining two privately owned Toll Bridges on the River Thames. image

I’ll share my more typical bridge photo tomorrow but here is another that I took from the other side perhaps an angle that hasn’t been used before or at the very least not often. Framing photos using foreground details such as this hedgerow, really helps draw the viewer to the subject in the photograph. I did use some AI tools in Lightroom to remove two cars from the bridge and they worked phenomenally well, it actually impressed me immensely. I decided to leave the people in, that if you are eagle eyed might see. I followed a Thames Path sign but wasn’t convinced this path was actually public because I could see how far it went and then stopped to turn back, taking this photo along the way! image

Continuing my bridges of the Thames series, here is another abstract shot of Whitchurch bridge, this time in black and white. I am going to do some test prints on the Canon Pro 1000 that I have, in readiness for selling some prints later in the year. Plans are afoot for a coffee table book too. You’ll be able of course to buy using Bitcoin. #photography #blackandwhite #art image

Question for you, especially developers and musicians, people who are both. Are there any options for publishing audio on Nostr. Wavlake is great but this would be for sample collectors. I’m planning a sound library.

One of the locations I visited today was Whitchurch and it’s beautiful bridge. I took a number of photos for a project I’m embarking on this year and into next, to photograph every Thames bridge, of which there are over 160. My aim is to capture a number of regular photos and some that stretch my and the viewers imaginations equally. When photographing a bridge, what do you do, where do you position yourself and your camera? Do you photograph the bridge from a distance or do you go for some concepts that need to be taken on the bridge or from it. I took a walk across it and whilst looking down, spotted this opportunity for an image, the contrasting late summer light actually helped in this instance, the light details of the buffers protecting the pillars that hold up the structure versus the dark waters of the River Thames, with the swirling weeds sketching out the flow of the water flowing through. It’s just so fascinating and makes for an unusual image, very abstract. I shall share the more traditional photos I took tomorrow or when I get time later in the week. GN. image

St Bartholomews Church, Lower Basildon, photographed today - Sony a7r3. Built of flint and brick 700 years ago, close to the river Thames. Jethro Tull, the father of modern farming, has a memorial here but the whereabouts of his actual grave is unknown. There is a tragic statue of two brothers in swimming trunks who drowned in the river in 1886. The church is a simple construction and was once a very prosperous parish in the fifteenth century, when parishioners grew rich from the local wool and corn trade. In the photo you can see that part of the roof has been fitted with corrugated metal, in order to temporarily fix a falling roof. I wonder if they accept bitcoin donations? I shall be sharing some more photos from this outing in the days to come. image

I’ve got some photos and video to edit for today’s photographic ramble. It all started at Whitchurch on the Thames, found this little spot. Nice. image

A golden field of sunflowers taken with my insta360 last weekend and I’ve grabbed this still from the footage. The monopod extends out quite far, so that I can get drone-like angles. I’m going to be gathering more photos from around the area with this camera and other cameras that I own, including a drone. image

Walking along the River Kennet last night and came across this plant, which I think might be a Miscanthus of some sort, it’s got similarities to bamboo, albeit with much finer stems. #bloomscrolling #photography #rivers #kennet #nature image

I have started working on a video series about music making on the iPad using AUv3 plugins. In this one, I talk about chord progressions and how to build them using the Progressions app. #music #ipad

Testing out some different NOSTR apps that work well for iPhone and iPad. Interesting to note that I’m using a different app on the iPad to the one I use not the iPhone. Nostur is good for the larger screen as it makes full use of the space, two columns.

Looking for advice on how to setup BTCpay in order to take zap donations and noted that some people I follow here on Nostr may prefer this method?

I think we’ll see more and more aggregation tools for online content springing up enabling the combination of feeds and I’d love to see RSS in the mix too. Something like a hybrid of @openvibe.bsky.social and Fountain - which for those of us who use v4v powered apps can earn some Hive,Bitcoin etc
