For search, this is surprisingly fine. Browsers: Firefox isn't recommended unless you harden the flip out of it. I'd switch that with Waterfox instead. Brave is cool, but another consideration is Helium. Gmail alternatives, I use one of: Proton. Tuta is actually censorious, *but* they are Free Software. Tutanota (as they were formerly known) is Nine Eyes (Germany), so be careful about that one. Element is a Matrix client. The Hated One despises the Matrix protocol due to how he ranked it in his tier list. Jitsi, Nextcloud Talk, and Proton Meet are okay. The individual making this list didn't think about Brave Meet, though. Drive alternatives are decent too, though Tresorit wasn't a consideration I made, but Internxt (which is Spanish). For Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer is bloated. I'd honestly use AbiWord or WordCraft (an ArtCraft suite app) for that once stable enough (despite yucky Rust on the latter). OnlyOffice is a sham, though I'm not sure about Proton Docs yet. For Google Sheets, same things. CryptPad seems alright, LibreOffice Calc is bloated, and Proton Sheets I'm not sure about. For that, I'd see the usage of Gnumeric or GridCraft for that. Forms are fine too. I don't see YakForms, though. For Keep, all three are good. I'd add Logseq and Zettler (the latter @GHOST talked about on his blog). For Calendar, BORG is what I use for the calendar (local-first, just like GHOST teaches). These aren't that great otherwise. Photos with Immich... that's a good recommendation. PhotoPrism and Piwigo I hadn't heard of too much. I'd add in Ente Photos to that. For Maps, CoMaps or Organic Maps (one of those two) is compsomised. OsmAnd might be compromised too, though I'm not sure about it. I'm uncertain on this one yet. YouTube alternatives are fine. PeerTube is self-hostable at least, though I don't use that. FreeTube can be a bit of a pain if you aren't careful. News using RSS readers. Dope. I used RSS Guard for my RSS feeds. Gemini alternatives... why do we not see llama.cpp? I'd add that on there, but also potentially LM Studio Bionic. However, Lumo is fine but limited. Ollama has a bug regarding MoE, and Jan is a FOSS LM Studio. For Passwords, Bitwarden is compromised. KeePassXC, DX (for Android), Proton Pass, and Alias Vault are what I'd put on there. Play Store alternatives are all good, as I use all three. Obtainium through ObtainX though. DNS, I use none of these three. Mullvad's DNS is dead, but I've already been using ControlD (by Windscribe). NextDNS gives you a lot of control, and Quad9 gave me some problems. For Home, not sure about that. Analytics, I know Plausible might be good. Matomo I hadn't heard of, and Umami I'm not sure I heard about. For Android OS's. Graphene only. /e/ and iode are garbage. View quoted note →
