With every stupid move by a tyrannical government, people from all walks of life and political stripe get one step closer to realizing the future, and their freedom, is found in decentralized freedom tech, censorship resistant money separate from the state, and in community and solidarity with one another. We’re going to win

The potential future of the Democratic Party (@AOC & @ZohranKMamdani) utterly failed in their response to Charlie Kirk’s assassination. They gave one statement each. Broad, vague, as if fearful of being canceled or called out by their supporters, or just not caring. It is indisputable that extreme left views and complacency with violence (and outright cheering violence) that has been growing and permitting online, from many of their supporters, is a huge problem and risk to our liberal democracy (just as many of us in the past have said the far right is a risk as well) This is failed leadership. It needs to be called out more. Not just “all political violence,” but speaking directly to your supporters and saying “we can disagree with Charlie but it is not ok to commit violence or promote and applaud it”. @BernieSanders did a bit of a better job, but he’s not the future. This failure in leadership is another huge reason I do not believe they should lead the Democratic Party or our nation, and will not be a united and good force. Do better. They should immediately call a virtual town hall to denounce this if they want the American people’s support and trust that the are the right fit to lead the Democratic Party and nation forward (but they are not…) #politcs

Bullish on sensible and respectful dialogue across the aisles. This is another good one, between Ezra Klein and Ben Shapiro. Shocker, Ezra is getting flack from the far left for being, oh I don’t know, introspective and a decent human being, in the wake of Charlie’s murder

Today I’m launching Liberal Ground, a publication (and beyond) where I will reflect and write about culture, society and politics, with an appeal to rebuild the sane and moderate left, and find unity and common ground in liberal values - the foundation of America My first piece is live. You can find it here and subscribe (liberalground.com domain coming soon) I will continue to work on and advocate for bitcoin and freedom tech, while also wading into political waters and fight for a new left of center approach to our broken, and extremely partisan politics and society. The moment is now image

Sometimes writing about or working on bitcoin gets boring By that I mean, Bitcoin is here. It’s working. It’s a freedom tool today. What I’m more and more interested in is how we make the world a better place. Society, culture, politics. Fighting for principles and freedoms. It’s what bitcoiners do that will change the world

If you haven’t already, every democrat or left leaning person should listen to the Charlie Kirk ep of Gavin Newsom’s podcast. Every strategist, politician, voter, especially those who have no idea why the swing to the right has been building for years. Don’t be snobbish - just listen. Charlie is literally giving such rich advice, saying the biggest threat to the right/MAGA movement today is if democrats run to the middle and could gain a bigger coalition (remember the big tent party?!) again. It’s right fucking there

Gov’t overreach and attacks on free speech, a first amendment right that we do not ask your permission for, in the wake of Charlie’s death is the worst way to honor his legacy btw. The state suuuuuuucks

For the American nostriches 🇺🇸 What makes America, America? What values should all Americans (regardless of political party) share and believe in our social contract? And what is currently the biggest risk to this social contract? #asknostr

Long post (TL;DR being on the left in the wake of Charlie’s assassination, and my thoughts on the only path forward) Thank you to my friend @HODL for being a sounding board. He and I don’t agree on everything, but I’ve found such a kinship with him over the years (as one of the first more public Bitcoiners I met who was super welcoming to me), he’s a good person and loves our country, and I have been talking with him about my own complex feelings around Charlie’s death and recent events. It’s time for the moderate, left of center liberals to actually lead the way and the future of the Democratic Party. It’s time to be courageous and say what needs to be said. They constitute a majority of voices, but the party, media, and good faith liberals are constantly hijacked and ridiculed by the hypocritical extreme, radical left. The left that antagonize progressives and center left as being “liberal” and not “true leftists.” Damn straight. Moderate liberals are exactly what the democrats need to lead on a platform of inclusion, American values, democracy and liberal values, and a place for everyone — not a place that welcomes extreme views, violence and violent rhetoric, shitting on American values, wealth, entrepreneurship, and bullshit purity contests and virtue signaling. A platform that says we’re proud to be American, and we can live together in peace and harmony and my fellow Americans are not my enemy. And this needs to be said - the leftists, those applauding Charlie’s death — are not just a minority voice on the left/democratic side. They have been growing, and recruiting. They also openly, consistently profess their hate for America and fellow Americans. When do we on the center left say enough is enough? It’s not too late to combat this, deescalate, and pull people back to the same, center left position and move forward. We need to stop being complacent and captured by this segment of the extreme left (who many don’t even vote democrat anyway because no one passes their purity contest!) And if you’re on the left — for just one second, try not to whataboutism about the right. This is a post to you — I’ve critiqued the extreme right many times. This isn’t about them right now. It’s about you, it’s about me, and it’s about answering the call if we can actually do this and rise above and do what we need to do. We cannot move forward as a movement, as a Democratic Party, etc, without this intervention and soul searching. It could very well destroy America. It’s time to be morally courageous and do the right thing, and stop being the knee to those on the far left who would rather see our country and fellow Americans destroyed (or assassinated) anyway. I for one will fight for American liberal values and a safer country for my daughter to grow up in and be proud of 🇺🇸

Bitcoiners gotta suck together and set the standard for the rest of the world Idk what your ideology and political background is. Bitcoiners can and will change the world. Compassion, generosity, pura vida, hope over fear, rejecting partisan tribalism. Thats fiat bullshit I want to look at my actions, my speech, the life I lead and hold myself accountable and be a great example for others.
