Just because someone is influential, opinionated, has a lot of followers, lives in a fancy house, has nice cars, etc. does not mean they know more or can make better decisions than you. One of the most difficult things to do in life is think for yourself. It takes courage to make your own decisions. Mostly because it feels like you’re on your own. Get comfortable with that. GM! Set and complete at least one goal per day and achieve it as early as possible. It can be anything. Call a potential client. Mow the lawn. Workout. Follow up on something. BBQ complete! Pork butt and brisket came out great. Brisket had the best bark and flavor I’ve been able to get, however I should have pulled it off sooner. Remind yourself of what’s most important. Work is important. Money is important. But most important of all is your time – how you spend it and who you spend it with. If you have a family, especially kids, you owe it to yourself (and them) to be present. You can be in the same room but if you’re distracted thinking about work or on your phone, you might as well not even be there. I’m as guilty of this as anyone and constantly have to remind myself that time is scarce and most valuable of all. It’s hard for me honestly, it doesn’t come naturally, I’m wired to go. I tell myself to enjoy today as much as possible and take in the moments because one day I’ll look back and wonder where the time went and wish I could go back to today. I know I’ll give everything I have then to just go back to today, right now. Spend time with your friends and family. Hug and play with your kids. Call your parents. Be a good friend. Let go and forgive. Enjoy more and worry less. Laugh a lot. Life is both long and short. Make the most of it. #family #friends #advice for my #plebchain and #nostriches #gm #gn
