As per @Jeff Booth it's vital to remind ourselves, every day, that: In a true free market, prices naturally fall toward the "marginal cost" of production as competition and technology drive efficiency. Our current world is built on a credit-based (debt) system that requires inflation to remain solvent. If deflation were allowed to occur, the real value of debt would increase, making it unpayable and causing the entire financial system to collapse. To prevent this collapse, governments and central banks must manipulate the currency to artificially create inflation. This intervention destroys the free market, as the system can no longer allow prices to reflect the true abundance created by technology.
