Wisdom On The Web
“If” is a poem by English Nobel laureate Rudyard Kipling, written around 1895. The poem, first published in Rewards and Fairies (1910), is written in the form of paternal advice to the poet’s son, John. “If” first appeared in the “Brother Square Toes” chapter of the book Rewards and Fairies, a collection of Kipling’s poetry and short-story fiction, published in 1910. In his posthumously published autobiography, Something of Myself (1937), Kipling said that, in writing the poem, he was inspired by the military actions of Leander Starr Jameson. (Link is below)

Life Power Tip
Know what you are good at and do not try to be something that you are not. How true can you be to your own personality, spirit or character, despite all of life’s external pressures to go with ‘the masses’?
Action
Send postcards to a few friends or family.
Challenge
Make it a rule to never lie.
Quote
You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind. That’s the only thing you should be trying to control. -Elizabeth Gilbert
Clearing
Invite someone with fresh perspective to give feedback on a project.
Question
What do you do each day to create your vision of your future?
Affirmation
I choose to feel more and more relaxed.
Uplifting Extra
Fear is sneaky. It doesn’t just show up when you’re about to do something dramatic, like speaking on stage or changing careers. It’s there in small, quiet ways. It’s what makes you hesitate to share your real thoughts. It’s what stops you from taking the next step you know you should take. It’s what keeps you in the safe lane, even when the best parts of life are waiting in the one right next to it. Fear talks us into believing it’s there to “protect” us. That’s the lie. Fear doesn’t keep us safe, it keeps us stuck. The longer we let it run the show, the smaller our lives become. What changes everything is knowing how to meet fear in a way that ends its power over you. It’s straightforward, you don’t need weeks of practice and it works with any kind of fear, big or small.
