tried the Rubbermaid Commercial "Hygen" mop today ...
and it still makes no sense to me.
i got it for my mother because she's too retarded to use my own Rubbermaid Commercial "WaveBrake" mopping system:
but the "press wring bucket" for Hygen:
doesn't "wring" shit !
the mop stays completely wet.
we decided to send the bucket back and keep the mop itself, because without the bucket the Hygen is basically just a Swiffer:
except Hygen is commercial quality and Swiffer is dollar store quality. also Hygen pads are designed to withstand 500 launderings and Swiffer pads are disposable.
my mother just wanted a Swiffer which i actually found in the house when i moved in but i immediately tossed it in the trash.
the "Hygen" is not much better, in that it is still idiotic, but at least it is well made.
I will keep using my "WaveBrake" system but mom will have the "hygen" in her part of the house for when she visits like now.
i will admit "mopping" with "Hygen" feels much better than with regular mop because with the aluminum frame it doesn't flop around like a regular mop does. however this advantage is completely nullified by the fact that you can't wring that thing out.
the way Rubbermaid envisions it you're supposed to just keep swapping pads and then launder them all at the same time. only problem is each pad is $15 so if with my WaveBrake system i wring it out 20 times to clean the floor with the Hygen you would use 20 pads, or $300 worth of pads before tossing them all in the laundry.
i can see how for a commercial cleaning operation investing a few hundred dollars like that is not an issue but for home use it is somewhat questionable.
so the bucket is going back. the mop itself is staying. i am still not decided on how many pads to keep. i ordered and received five pads at $15 each but mom says she only wants two pads. she wants to wash one by hand and keep the other one dry to remove any kind of water spots from the floor.

i guess i will send the extra 3 pads back because i can always buy them again later if needed. we only used one pad for testing so all the others are still clean.
overall the "Hygen" system is "interesting" and has a quality feel to it but i am still not sure if it will be of any actual use.
what convinced me to try it was that i saw one in my new gym's locker room so i figured if my Rubbermaid WaveBrake is awesome and the pros are using the Hygen maybe i should give this Hygen a shot ...
the problem with WaveBrake system is it takes a lot of muscle to lift the full bucket to empty it. i can do it but my mother can't. my hope is my mom and any kind of tenant chick i might get will be able to make some use of the Hygen but it still makes no sense to me personally and i am definitely sticking with my WaveBrake.
the other reason i wanted a second mopping system is because i live on the 1st floor and the hoes will live on the 2nd floor and i just want to keep my WaveBrake on the 1st floor and Hygen on the 2nd.
the problem is the 2nd floor is obviously not on slab so you can't just pour water everywhere and i was hoping the "press wring bucket" would do something about the excess water but it doesn't. not sure how the hoes will deal with this situation but the challenge is also the fun part !
