Apparently #eurothon is a thing. Zapping all over the place.

GM PV The bitdev was awesome yesterday. Would love to see a tiny bit more moderation by @josie. I know you are the consensus type, but at some point we need to move on. OtherwIse the core might be run on two different networks 😉 The content was very interesting and some Milk Sad details were fun at the end. Thanks for all the PoW of the fellow organizers Ruben Samson, @Sjors Provoost and bitonic. It was amazing to see some guests who are doing fantastic PoW, but unfortunately couldn’t thank personally for what they do. Probably missing some tags here. Until next time.

As a former engineer who wrote just a tiny bit of code and had to rely on experts through my time in ports across the world for the most part. I believe this piece by lyn sets out the issues of “improvements” very well.
I’ve seen some non consensus supported changes flowing through in software development that brought ongoing problems in port operations.
Sometimes pushed through by head quarters, which lead to outflow of both customers and people on the work floor. Costing many millions a week, which became a downward spiral. A solid basis that is supported throughout the user system that does its job is the most important thing.
A system that will become the monetary basis of the human race needs more difficulty to be changed than a local US constitution.
We should educate more people to think about it this way.
If you want to know more about content of forks and what is happening in bitcoin core, join a bitdev meetup.
This Friday I will attend another one in Amsterdam. I’m not a programmer, but I’ve seen a lot of shit through decades of “updates”. Let’s make sure we don’t move too fast and coincidentally make a mistake.
Before deciding on what to put up in your shop, you have to compare and figure things out. Asked around to the bitcoin plebs that knew much more about signing devices / hardware wallets. After talking and figuring out details over the devices @BitcoinBrabant was one of the first to become reseller of both @Foundation Passport and @Blockstream Jade. In the meanwhile we’ve sold hundreds of devices through our webshop that only accepts bitcoin. Because we delete your input data of the order and people can chose to pickup at meetups it feels like we’re building a solid Hodler basis. These open source | air gapped | bitcoin only | fully reproducible devices did not exist a year ago. And for single signature storage, which is the first step after a hot wallet or keeping your bitcoin on exchanges the best practice is to hide a proper backup and have proper pin security on the device. Stateless devices that are used often for signing with a SeedQR are only a proper solution in multisig. In singlesig you can off course use a passphrase. The ease of use and explanation that comes with a passphrase is a factor where we expect more risk than with a pin that is often something pre remembered by the user. The risk of losing the pin is much lower than the passphrase. The setup of the new generation devices with pin is significantly easier than setting up a new device with passphrase. As a first self sovereign step, you can just send a Jade or Passport and it will guide itself. It’s an intuitive UI and fluid experience. If you need to help with the setup of a device, you haven’t tried the setup of these devices yet. What is by our customers really appreciated are the explanatory videos embedded in the app of @Foundation Envoy. Is @Blockstream planning a similar menu option in the green app? I believe @bitcoin__help is close to a final UI so when will you start with the definite explainer movies? Thanks both teams for the PoW and the amazing customer service via the telegram groups. We’ve come a long way. First Jade arrived in September 2022 and Passport in October 2022. We’ve been an official reseller for almost a year now. I especially want to thank plebs, friends and family who’ve made this consistent build up of a small reseller possible, but meant a possible order cut-off every day at 15.00. Which meant we had to make sure someone could pack, print and ship the package. I could have never done this by myself. Thanks 🙏 Sanne (wife) and 3 month old Otis Sha (son named after Satoshi with anagram) for the flexibility you had to put up with. And as for the picture, being in my workplace just gives me a smile every day.

If you follow the wallet checkers you’ll find out we made a solid choice going for bitcoin only | air gapped | open source and we can now add: fully reproducible! Thanks for all the research @npub1j9kt...uswx and @Spiral for funding this project. @Blockstream @Foundation

Next 200 orders will receive one of the beautiful @Street Cyber stickers. Our super cheap seal bags, own production anon SeedQR and seedword thick paper. @Blockstream Jades and @Foundation Passports are the ones that move fast. Today we ship another 5 packages. So if you want a free beautiful sticker with your order, don’t wait too long 😉

Check the stats. Where do you think we’ll be in a year from now? Daily number of zaps? Number of daily active users?
This is Otis Sha. His first name is an anagram for Satoshi. He’s already laser focused on grabbing sats laying in front of him at three months old. #zapathon #plebaby #bitcoinkids

Tried to upload the short explainer directly into @Damus but keep on getting an error. What’s the best location to upload your movies? This is not the movie we are working on with the full setup with home assistant details. This is just a quick startup for some people that requested it.
My parents were looking through pictures together with my wife to find how much I look like our baby Otis. They ran across this golden oldie. They told me I was always interested in computers from day one, jep fiddled with them a lot from a very young age…

Tomorrow, at the largest regular bitcoin meetup of Europe, in Amsterdam. I’ll be selling my pleb shit peer to peer once again. You can recognize me in the orange bitcoinbrabant shirt. You can pre-order and use meetup delivery in the shop. Looking forward seeing all plebs again!
