#Ammo delivery today. Nice mix of 115 & 124 grain 9mm for training. With rumors of a possible shortage better to have and not need versus need and not have. Plus taking wife and MIL for a range day soon. Get some reps and see if she can repeat that natural talent with a pistol. image #gunstr

It's comforting the wine. I don't mean the alcohol but that it makes you feel nice and welcoming. - my MIL who allegedly doesn't love Cabernet sauvignon. @Peony Lane Wine with supper won't do you wrong. One less bottle of 22 Cabernet Sauvignon in the world #wine #foodstr #cooking #family

Today's article is about sight picture and the holds used by various shooters. Read, agree/disagree, test out for yourself it doesn't matter. This is to share and hopefully help out whoever needs the knowledge. For those that may be new to the spectacular world of shooting Aiming consist of 2 components, sight alignment & sight picture. Sight alignment can best be remembered by the ditty equal height equal light where the top of your front and rear sights are aligned and there is equal spacing between the front post and the left right posts of the rear. Sight picture can be slightly more complicated. 3 types of holds are commonly used - Combat Hold - 6 O'Clock Hold - Center Hold luckily this post includes photos for you visual learners https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi1.wp.com%2Freddotshooters.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2020%2F04%2FCombat-Sight-Picture-1.png%3Fresize%3D447%252C156%26ssl%3D1&f=1&nofb=1&ipt=f6d1a6d24a7d65072cc0802ebb59c2f859e60089c8c0828be53639f55a6b8a16 A combat hold puts the dot of the front sight on target, typically used in combat scenarios (no shit) and by law enforcement. The benefit to this hold is rapid target acquisition but the drawback is that your target is obscured by the sights. 6 O'Clock looks weird to those unfamiliar and can feel unnatural to new shooters. The sights are aligned at the base of the target and as seen in the picture above the point of impact is the bullseye. Used by bullseye target shooters this hold provides a clear picture of the target and can provide more precision and accuracy for competitions. Our last but in no way inferior is the center hold. This sight picture is perfect when the top of the sights bisect the center of the target (Get it? Center hold, center of the target. Screw you puns are funny.) Using this hold will provide greater target visibility and can contribute to more precise shots. Not a bad use case for self defense, competitions (USPSA, IDPA, Steel Challenge) or hunting for your badass hand gun hunters. Now the trick is knowing what hold your brand new pistol has and the information isn't as clear cut as you might think due to lack of documentation. Conflicting sources claim that #Glock are center hold and combat hold. #Sig_Sauer comes from the factory with a combat hold and i have a Ruger Mk IV that came with a 6 O'Clock (luckily this was in the manual). The best plan of action I can recommend would be to get out to the range and test your pistol from the bench rest or with a sturdy sandbag/range bag for a foundation. Consistent form will be key here and removing variables will help you determine which hold your sights are using. Another less expensive way involves a laser boresight and a friend who can tell you where the laser is when you have the firearm ready to fire. https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.quickmeme.com%2Fimg%2Fa7%2Fa78ae76da19c1a0f9e0e9b2f7e6229e70bd36cf7bc5b2f29b5f8900face50234.jpg&f=1&nofb=1&ipt=1ac607ad4497b0230d0615251d1ccd52e5deb8dfefea0c2e3d343e841dade712 You know your hold and you're a lead slinging machine now but the bullets aren't hitting the bullseye. What's going on? The answer to that is your zero. Would you like to know more? Then tune in next time when i finish writing the next article. At the end of the day, i hope this was beneficial to someone and for the armchair experts please run your mouth and comment/troll it gets my content out there and thank you for your service. Happy shooting and stay safe out there friends. #gunstr #education #guns #pewpew

@West Major why are the sizing charts for your short sleeve vs long sleeve shirts slightly different? Based on measurements i may be buying different sizes. Also how much shrinkage is expected? I saw theyre pre shrunk but still a fear my new favorite shirt goes from an XL to schmedium.

A few months ago i decided to register for the local IDPA match at my gun club. Eager and slightly nervous i created a Practiscore account, cleaned my pistol and sourced an OWB holster within a week, yay wife's prime membership for quick delivery. Grab the range back and make sure i have all the equipment - pistol (check) - magazines (check) - ammo (check) - magazine holders (sorta check) - holster (check) - hearing & eye pro (double check) Morning of the competition i wake up early, have a nice up of coffee and grab my can of Copenhagen (don't judge my chemical dependency) and off to the range we go. Upon arrival I unload and get signed in, I'm in squad 1 with the rest of the beginners. An 8am safety brief and now time to socialize with other shooters. 6 stages & 5 hours later I'd call the day a success. Met some great shooters from other areas and if you're new i can't stress enough to let people know. They will actively give you tips/tricks and advice that you can't gain without seeing yourself. No safety violations and fun was had but it was a rough day, I can't speak to the rest of the country but in the great state of FL the sun is actively trying to kill you if you aren't prepared and i was not...and that is what this post is about. What no one tells you prior to going to a competition is the gear or items that make your day more enjoyable, relaxing and allow you to focus on the matches. An umbrella, a garden cart, cooler and sunscreen will take a fun day and make it fanfuckingtastic. I saw all manner of DIY reloading benches, PVC frames and carts for people to carry their gear while I am lugging my loaded bag around multiple action bays and not a bit of shade to be found. People relaxing under umbrellas between stages to keep that fireball from draining their energy and coolers to keep all manner of hydration and snackage safe. And finally a nice mineral sunscreen because sunburns suck and milk baths only do so much. Many of us have a tendency to focus on the shooting gear we need (belt, holster, optics etc) but some simple normal items can take you to the next level and without being the new guy you won't know about them. I upgraded to an actual belt instead of stashing magazines in my pocket to allow easier access and faster reloads. Tuck in your shirt to save those extra seconds and practice but the load off my shoulders, the shade and cool water were what made my second match that much enjoyable. #gunstr #idpa #competition

This is years after they released but the lack of firearms content on nostr disturbs me so....here we go. I recently came across two gen5 Glocks at my local gunshop, G47 (9mm) & a G23 (.40 S&W), and thought ive never given this brand a fair try or honest review. Past experiences were pistols so beat to hell and unmaintained that you could aim at the wall and just hit the corner. Bought a box of Federal American eagle in each caliber and off to the range we went. Plus blue skies and FL spring in low 80s is perfect shooting weather. Lets start off with the Glock 23, a compact pistol that as luck would have it came with a Leupold DeltaPoint Pro red dot pre installed. Overall fot well in the hand, a bit short of the full if youre large handed. image Loaded up the 13 round magazine and at 7 yards the red dot did it's job. Previous owner setup for full cowitness which drives me insane but easy fix. Stock glock trigger leaves much to be desired when slowly pressing. A trigger pull that felt like an eternity. Recoil may be intimidating to new shooters but proper grip goes a long way End result a dead silhouette image Onto the Glock 47, a full size pistol originally designed for US Customs & Boder Patrol, chambered in the ever popular 9mm I looked forward to shooting this to compare with my Walther & Beretta. image With the Glock Performance Trigger installed this is an enjoyable gun. Compared to the slow creep on the stock 23 this was a responsive and crisp trigger that i couldnt recommend enough. 17 round magazine and a beavertail to improve grip it recoils more than most other manufacturers i shoot but again grip and practice takes care of that. Second round was a fail to feed due to magazine not seating all the way (user error i imagine). image These wont be leaving my collection anytime soon but i cant say i was over or underwhelmed with these two. If you want a firearm that does its job then either model will serve you right. Both were heavier than a Walther PDP and my bias to Beretta is due to my Navy time but i feel ive been unfairly critical of Glock in my past opinions. #gunstr #opinion #outdoors

Second business i frequent that once bitcoin was mentioned they counter with XRP...instead of arguing i pointed out that ripple has a single point of failure, the code could be changed arbitrarily and transactions are more easily monitored. And the kicker that made them go wait what was telling them the ethereum story of the chain being rolled back. Imagine i buy something, without your knowledge the chain is rolled back and as a merchant youre out inventory and money... im not sure what ripples use claim is but when it comes to a base layer for money #bitcoin is the only choice Idk if ive changed their mind but i did what i could

There is a suprising amount of crossover between gun cleaning makeup & nails. Lint free wipes check, swabs to get into crevices amd solvents woo hoo My wife is a cornucopia of cleaning tools and wonderful that her hobbies and mine intersect #guns #makeup #nails

All it took was them discontinuing models for me to finally get some Glocks. G47 & G23 secured Take em out for a shoot this weekend and see how they shoot. Ive found buying used saves me money on optics as well with the combo. #guns #gunstr #glockstr
