85 percent done downloading my Bitcoin Full Node. Block number 831,856. Getting closer! #bitcoin #fullnode #freedom image
As I am downloading my full node, I am reminded of the wise words from @npub1s05p...eyhe “we are Bitcoin… all of us”. Until I took this step, I didn’t truly feel this in my bones. Three years ago I thought Bitcoin was an actual coin that you kept in your safe. That’s how far I have come because of this amazing network. Where will I be in another three years? I can’t wait to see. Here for the journey. 8 billion people in service of 8 billion people. image
Bitcoin’s Sands Day by day, I sift the chain, Each block a speck, each truth a grain. The closer I look, the less I know, Yet the ledger grows, its pulses flow. Answers dissolve, new questions rise, A puzzle vast beneath the skies. I chase the code, yet find I’m there— Both lost and found in Bitcoin’s air. image
Progress update on running my Bitcoin full node. 72 percent done and at block number 782,297. image
Had there ever been a documented case of anyone accidentally making a typo while sending bitcoin and randomly creating another valid address and losing their funds? Or is this along the same odds as picking a random atom in the universe?
Do most OG hard core Bitcoiners like @ODELL use their own multi sig set up or use services like Unchained or CASA?
40 percent of the way to being a proud node in the Bitcoin network! image
A personal thanks to everyone who has helped me on my bitcoin journey. It all started on August 31, 2021 when I listen to Balaji Srinivasan talk about Bitcoin and crypto on a podcast with Sam Harris. This peaked my interest… did the normal shitcoin journey before discovering why Bitcoin was the only thing that mattered. There are way too many people to thank, but the one person who has been my rock and constant voice of reason is @npub1s05p...eyhe Several times over the last year he has recommended running my own node as a next step, but I kept pushing it off. I have had my funds in cold storage multi sig for over a year and figured that was good enough. Well, today I am FINALLY taking the next step and downloading Bitcoin Core. Thank to you to Jeff and everyone for the unbelievable amount of free hours they spend explaining this new concept. I don’t know how they have the patience to keep repeating the same thing, but for many of us it requires countless touch points to sink in. Grateful to be on. This journey with all of you. image
I have a question for @npub1s05p...eyhe. I’ve been thinking about the problem of self custody recently. The problem being that it’s too hard for the average person… too much friction. Is this simply a problem of living in the privileged western world? Do you believe there will be some sort of innovative breakthrough with self custody, similar to the profoundness of Bitcoin itself? If Bitcoin must succeed as a payment network in addition to SOV, isn’t this one of the most important things to address as the network grows? Making self custody easier… or is the nature of self custody such that it needs to be hard? What percentage of the population do you believe needs to hold bitcoin in self custody for it to be resilient to centralization and attacks? I guess those were a bunch of questions. Merry Christmas!
Had a dream that we were at $63,500 by EOD… take it to the bank
#Bitcoin is a software protocol. A protocol is a set of rules. Software is the magic stuff inside computers that tells the device what to do. So Bitcoin is a program that is used on computers that follows a set of rules. It is based on logic and math. If A, then B. Is this right when thinking about Bitcoin from the highest level?
