Our presentation focused on Bitcoin as a Medium of Exchange across Africa... 🧵👇 ...and emphasized the importance of Listening and not Lecturing when talking to people about Bitcoin. Tando was born from this very act of listening during our efforts to orange-pill Kenyans. At the time, we made it a habit to tip service providers in Bitcoin. Without fail, there was one question we kept hearing after the bitcoin hit their wallet: “How can I spend it?” We didn’t lecture them with responses like “HODL, don’t spend it!” or “You don’t spend your Bitcoin!” Instead, we listened, and what they were really asking for was an easy way to turn their bitcoin into basic necessities, a way to spend it. That’s how Tando came to be. If you can only receive Bitcoin but can’t _easily_ spend it, then you’re trapped in the classic “chicken and egg” problem To break out of that eggshell, you need a tool that lets anyone easily spend their bitcoin, to transform into a fully grown chicken (aka a bitcoin circular economy).
