We recently completed two excellent sessions with our Cohort 9 students focused on the technical side of #Bitcoin, led by npub1337xxyne0pw52zgd984xqqs2q7qhqpt7phhn7xp6t9yt406vrvescdpkdt .Our students gained a deep understanding #Bitcoin transactions , from broadcasting to checking details on @mempool and finally grasping the mechanics of mining. The best part was a fun game organized by D++ where students competed to find the nonce for a reward! In total, 18 students walked away with 47,000 sats in rewards. It was a fun and successful session, co-hosted by @Felix

We had a great session yesterday covering part two of Chapter 6, "Introduction to Bitcoin." @Felix presented on the main players in the Bitcoin network, including the miners, nodes, users, developers and projects, clearly highlighting the function of each. We're excited for the final session of Chapter 5, "How Problems Lead to Solutions." We will first cover the consequences of the fiat system and the global debt burden. Following that, we will introduce the cypherpunks and their quest for a decentralized digital currency, including a comparison of centralized and decentralized systems, and a brief history of digital currencies. @Benoît Berenger t from @My First Bitcoin will lead this session, which will be co-hosted by @Felix

We had a great session this evening where @Benoît Berenger from npub17cyatz6z2dzcw6xehtcm9z45m76lde5smxdmyasvs00r4pqv863qrs4ml3 led a wonderful discussion on "How Problems Lead to Solutions." We focused on Monetary Inflation and its effect on Purchasing Power. A key point we learned is that the fiat system impacts people's psychology by causing a high time-preference—a focus on short-term gains instead of long-term planning. Yesterday's session, led by Pacharo from npub1t4ljwhhg7zlxeahxwgmkwqmn4jjxxq8lzhyuzy0zvy23hq0sacxsdl9fvv and co-hosted by @FelixMukungu ,was a great introduction to Fiat Money and Who Controls It. We covered a brief history of the fiat system, detailing the formation of central banks, the Bretton Woods system, and the pivotal "Nixon shock" of 1971. We are happy to continue this important discussion next Tuesday, where we will build on these problems in traditional finance to introduce #Bitcoin as a solution, bringing us one step closer to the main introduction.

We had a great session covering the History of Money! We discussed the evolution of money—why older forms were left behind for newer ones that better met the needs of the market. It was important that @Felix emphasized that money does not originate from governments, but rather arises out of the market process. We focused on the 'Double Coincidence of Wants' problem during the barter system, which led to the discovery of commodity money. We are looking forward to talking more about the History of Money tonight!

We've seen great success with our main initiative, #BitcoinEducation, and we are also committed to building a strong #BitcoinCommunity through our second project, Bitcoin Githurai. Recently, following our Cohort 8 graduation (with the physical ceremony scheduled for #Bitcoin Unconference #004), we organized a small trip to Bitcoin Githurai. Some of the graduates joined The Core team, and the visit was a fantastic success. It was inspiring to see the energy of young people building with #Bitcoin. We had a great final session for Chapter II: What is Money? tonight! We covered the essential properties of money, which include durability, portability, fungibility, acceptability, scarcity, and divisibility. We also discussed the different types of money and finished by looking at the psychology of money: scarcity, time preference, and opportunity cost. It is always a good experience to discuss this kind of content, as it sets up the perfect introduction to #Bitcoin. The session was successfully led by @Felix

We’ve hit our initial target of 10 merchants! 🥳 This milestone is key as we fully roll out phases 2 and 3 of our project. Over the weekend, we added two great merchants: Neil’s Nails Shop and Elijah, a local Boda-boda rider! It was cool to use #bitcoin for project expenses! We paid our 3rd-ever onboarded merchant for "cyber services" (stickers) and then used those to help the two newest merchants set up their businesses to accept #Bitcoin.
