Any voting mechanism based on money is ultimately rigged. Like Proof of Stake. It just perpetuates that the wealth stays with the wealthy (overwhelmingly in male hands) who get more wealthy over time.

Lightning is dead. Bitcoin is slow.
Really?
This is how one can pay with bitcoin while the receiver gets Kenyan Shilling into their M-Pesa account.
There are 30 Mio people in Kenya using M-Pesa. Every street vendor, every taxi driver, every store uses it….you get the idea.

30 Mio. ppl in Kenya can now be paid with #Lightning and receive KES in their M-Pesa account. Basically you can pay everything with #bitcoin and the recipient doesn't need to learn anything about it. It is so important in countries where people live from paycheck to paycheck, they need to be able to spend their bitcoin.
I confirm it works like a charm, paid taxi drivers for groceries, eating dinner in a restaurant etc.

These are the outskirts of an urban center. Which one?
Hint: I was surprised to see so much green.

For anyone in Nairobi or who’s attending AfroBitcoin…the Bitcoin ATM listed on CoinRadar is a Bitclub network machine. Bitclub is a huge scam. I didn’t know that this still exists!

Gonna visit Zambia in a couple of months…great to see the initiative growing. Livingstone at Victoria Falls and on the border to Zimbabwe is a tourist hot spot and as such a great location for Bitcoin acceptance and knowledge spreading. Been there four years ago. Coming back. View quoted note →

Self-custody your Bitcoin. Tell your friends and family to do the same. If they don’t understand tell them the story of Ibrahim Abdallah in Lebanon.
“This war between the United States and Iran is affecting us internally,” he said. “All I know is that we are innocent victims of a war that we’re not part of. To be honest, I see a dark future.”
“Even if I wanted to rebuild (his bombed house) it, my money is stuck in the bank. I want to be able to rebuild our future. But the banks have taken all our money.”

From 2025 on visitors to Kenya must declare the IMEI of their phone at entry!! With this obligatory declaration Kenyan authorities can track everyone in realtime.
The IMEI is the unique identifier of your device, you can not change it. As soon as you use a SIM card / or eSim - these have their own unique IDs as well, which then are associated with your IMEI. This is a global standard.
