There's no conflict in believing (1) innocent babies in the womb should not be murdered AND (2) capital punishment is admissable for capital crimes. Those who say otherwise are either promoters or victims of the Modernist heresy. Decide to inform your intellect & reject folly.
#TLM critics: "People can't follow Mass in a different language. They need the vernacular for the sake of active participation, so they know what's going on." Same critics: looking forward to spending money on Mel Gibson's subtitled sequel to "The Passion of the Christ."
Jesus gave us the sacrament of Confession because he knows our weaknesses -- that we *need* it after baptism. Often. Even though many Protestants are our brothers through valid baptism, don't think it will be EZ for them to avoid hell, despite their initial justification.
When I hear critics of Catholic Christianity imply we don't have a "personal relationship" with Jesus, it's impossible to take seriously. Not only do we as Catholics have a personal relationship with Christ our King, but with Mary our Queen, with all the Christian saints who went before us, with our holy angels and all the host of heaven. It's a family thing. Our Faith is so much more than a weekly Book club or singing repetitious love songs to the Lord from a band stage. We enjoy the full communion of saints and look forward to the promises of Christ. Praise God.
I don't call my toilet "the john." I call it "the jim." That way, next time someone says, "Hey, where have you been, and why are you so sweaty?", I can say, "I just finished using the jim."
It's disappointing to me when Jimmy Akin of "Catholic Answers Live" answers a Protestant question about Mary by saying she's not mentioned in the Mass very many times, or by saying that people like Saint Louis de Montfort tended to use flowery, hyperbolic language about her. First, the new order of the mass removes Mary several times from the liturgy. That's a problem on its own. But second, the truth is that Mary is greater, more glorious, more central to the gospel than any words Saint Louis de Montfort can come up with.
Tomorrow (Thursday) evening I'm headed out to Burlington, WI, for a 4-day silent retreat. That, along with a nice lengthy drive to get there, will give me plenty of prayer time. **FREE PRAYERS FOR YOU** -- you can send me a prayer request publicly or privately, with or without anonymity -- here, in the Catholic Armada channel, or via SimpleX Chat. Let me know before tomorrow at 3:30pm Central time.
If you listen to the first 3-1/2 minutes of this video, you will become a groovier Christian.
A good morning can easily be soured by stepping in a wet spot on the floor with your socks right before you have to leave the house. πŸ˜†
If your rosaries are becoming vain repetitions, don't quit; turn them into *vested* repetitions. That is to say, use the repetition for good, as intended -- to immerse yourself in the prayers and the meditation on the mysteries. Engage not just your voice, but your mind, heart, and soul. Out of weakness and imperfection, distraction can happen. That's not a sin. That can happen with any kind of prayer. Just recognize and resist distraction, and do your best. Prayer is not always easy, but it's always necessary. πŸ“ΏπŸ™πŸ€²πŸ›
Sometimes it's OK to be a "Mad Trad." That doesn't mean living a life of misery and anger that repels others. It means being Catholic and vocally opposing her enemies that subvert her from within -- like our local modernist, gay-approving, heretical Director of Adult Faith Formation. Trying to fit into the "Glad Trad" mold when your parishes are being led to hell could be considered spiritual pacifism.
If an atheist is someone who has too much sense to believe in a white-haired "sky daddy" who needs to have his ego fed by making us to worship him... ... then I am an "atheist," too.
This is the best, most simple, most motivating, most helpful, most true, most commonsense, most valuable advice for improving your health and waistline that I've ever heard, and I can vouch for its results: **Stop f[rickin'] eating all the time!**
I had a Gmail account when it was invite-only. This is my first received Gmail. I loved it at the time. Now I dislike it sorely. image
The easiest and *surest* way to have E2E encryption email is to use your email on the Thunderbird email client. It can set up PGP keys for you very simply -- and any emails you happen to send to Proton addresses are automatically encrypted.
