#Apple releases new cheap Macbook Neo at only 1.945 #Monero. For Apple, that is a surprisingly cheap device.

One thing I do not see on Android is a good Nomadnet browser. So if anybody knows one, LMK. #Reticulum
Man, a good UI can make a world of difference. I am playing with #Reticulum again and discovered an #Android app called Columba
which is an LXMF app like Sideband but actually looks like it was designed to work properly on mobile and seems to abstract a lot of the technical stuff away properly while still giving access to it if needed.

Oh fun. Some researchers found a way to exploit the Tor onion proof of work system. It's supposed to keep an adversary from doing a denial of service attack on the server by exhausting all of its resources, and for that job it does work.
However, it introduces another denial of service attack where the attacker doesn't actually overwhelm the server with data, but it just tricks the server into thinking it's being overwhelmed and causes the difficulty to rise to the maximum possible value and keep most clients from being able to connect.
The researchers created their own algorithm that exponentially increased the amount that it would cost to perform the attack from a trivial low amount to something like 1.06 Monero per hour per onion service.
So a website with a single address would cost 1.06 XMR per hour to attack, which is still pretty low, but a website with 30 addresses would take 1.06*30 = 31.8XMR/hr to attack.
spinning up a bunch of addresses is not a particularly hard thing to do so that's one mitigation and would keep anybody with extremely limited resources from being able to pull off that attack
In the example above 31.8 Monero per hour to attack the service is a pretty steep cost.

So Alaska Anon brought this to my attention:
"THE ONLY NON-KYC PHYSICAL CARD
Get a Physical Mastercard with no KYC. Deposit BTC, ETH, SOL, XMR, or USDT, spend in USD, EUR, MXN and more worldwide. Essential for ATM cash withdrawals."
$350USD setup fee + $100USD renewal fee (every 3 years) + $100USD lost card replacement. 4% deposit fee.
Ofrnxmr mentioned that the cake pay master cards can be shipped to you physically and need name and address to activate and the goblin card would also need name and address because otherwise how would they know where to ship it.

GOBLIN CARD - Non-KYC Physical Crypto Debit Card

So I actually gave them a call and was told that the throttle speed was increased from 128 to 256 kbps and that the website just had not been updated to reflect that change.
I did simulate 256 KBPS and was able to stream audio podcasts, load, nostr, and mastodon and Lemmy worked fine.
#CloakedWireless here I come. I am super excited to be able to pay my bill directly in #Monero.

So, #CloakedWireless throttles to 128kbps after you exhaust your high-speed data allotment.
Android has functionality to simulate slow network speeds, and 128 is one of the options, so I gave it a try to see what would and would not work.
I was unable to stream audio podcasts in any form, even when I tried putting it down to 0.9x speed.
My nostr clients absolutely refused.
Mastodon and Lemmy both worked, though Lemmy was quite slow to load at first
I was able to browse the cloaked wireless website, so I assume that I should be able to get into my account dashboard and add a data pass if I needed it.
And last but not least, I noticed no problems with messaging apps such as SimpleX or Signal whatsoever.
Going to be switching to #CloakedWireless in March so i can pay my phone bill in #Monero. I am going to have 500MB high speed data and unlimited low speed data. I currently use T-Mobile connect where i get 5GB of high speed data but then it shuts off completely unless i buy a pass or my bill cycle renews.
I have a device that was released in 2021 and did a #5G speed test because I haven't done one in a while and managed to pull 270 MBPS over the 5G network.
I think if I tried to do a 5G speed test on Cloaked, I would probably use my entire high speed data allotment in one shot, so don't really intend to do that.
Just to be on the absolute safe side, I would make sure to have a battery capable of putting out 2.5 amps. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

TLDW, you CAN power the 1 watt booster from a lithium battery. The battery is 3.7v and the booster needs 5v at 1.5a so it steps up from 3.7 to 5v. If I am doing my math correctly, this means your lithium battery needs to be able to put out 2a at full power.

BTC Sessions talked about a thing from River Financial that mentioned that #bitcoin #lightning payments grew 300% in 2025. Congratulations, there are now a whopping three lightning payments up from one lol.

UPDATE: #Tor is functioning for me again, so maybe they put some sort of mitigation in place, or the attack stopped.

Looks like this might be an attack to force people off of #Tor.

Possible Compression Bomb on Tor Logs
Hi All, Recently, I have seen the logs below in the notices.log file. Could you please clarify this for me? 02:34:10 [WARN] Possible compression ...
Signal was not working and it turns out that something is up with #Tor since I use it as a socks proxy.
