There are plenty of good reasons to use a seemingly-retarded client. ....like closer-to-organic human interactions over otherwise alienating and manipulative digital interfaces: View quoted note →

with a bunch of bash and jq tooling slapped around it, nak makes an incredible cli client. there's no reason nak should be this good. i don't know if nostr would have made it anywhere if @fiatjaf didn't provide this gift in the early days. a good lesson for protocol developers in general

So this will be useful for an individual, of course, but since we're in a decentralized social computing environment here, it'll really shine when used with other people, especially with WoT... for instance: Your Contextual WoT designates Bob as an authority on fire emergencies in your town. So one of the available topics in your nstrfy.sh client's list is "local fire alerts" and when you subscribe to it, you can be sure any high priority notifications from Bob will blow up your phone (but no spammers or punk kids in your town will be able to prank you). Or your Contextual WoT defines a "political action network" and any npubs you trust in that network can send encrypted notifications to everyone else in the same trust ring when there is an event going down; which aren't decryptable by anyone outside the trust circle. (that said, don't do politics, kids. not even once) #WoTathon fodder here... #nstrfy View quoted note →

Steve is talking about how great the no-kyc experience is and how bitcoin-naive newcomers to nostr will have this experience of receiving money without kyc'ing - and he uses Primal as the example client.... 🤔 someone hasn't seen the Primal wallet setup ux that asks for your name and address (or doesn't realize normies aren't going to immediately think its okay to lie in that form)
