Landlocked castaway priest in the Age of Disintegration
I purchased an eSim from @LN eSIM and it worked great, just as it has in the past. Great support responses on #nostr from the dev when I had a hiccup (at 3am no less). Sipping minimal data in Latin America on #grapheneOS and open source maps like Magic Earth is the private, permissionless internet at its best. Now, to just convince these Chilangos to start taking sats πŸ‡²πŸ‡½πŸ€£ #plebchain #hispano #bitcoin #lightning #mexico image
Sharing a quote from one of the great mothers of literature: β€œI am Beth Morgan,” my mother said, and her voice was as deep and strong as any man. β€œI have come up here to tell you what I do think of you all, because I have heard you are talking against my husband. Two things in this world do I hate. One is talking behind the back, and the other is lice. So you should know what I do think of you.” The only sounds when my mother stopped were the crackling of wood and the hushing of snow. β€œYou are a lot of cowards to talk against my husband,” my mother said with a full voice. β€œHe has done nothing against you and he never would and you know it well. He is Superintendent of the colliery now because every man will have his reward for working, and that is his. And for you to think he is with the owners because he has had his reward is not only nonsense but downright wickedness. How some of you can sit in the same Chapel with him I cannot tell. But there is one thing more I will say and that is this. If harm do come to my Gwilym, I will found out the men and I will kill them with my hands. And that I will swear by God Almighty. And there will be no Hell for me. Nobody will go to Hell for killing lice.” β€œMama,” Davy called from the back of the rock. My mother turned round to look for Davy, but she could not see him at first. β€œI am not your mother,” she said, β€œwhen you are with these. You are lice with them. And if your father comes to harm, you shall be the first to go.” Davy came out of the darkness to go to my mother but she turned away and started to stumble down the rock. I ran round to help her find her footway, and Davy stood at the top watching in quiet. There was low talking from the men and not a sound else, and indeed if ever I heard the voice of shame, then it was, while my mother was crying as she felt her way down. Final day in Mexicoβ€”my first trip here. A whirlwind tour of the Nauha civilization that existed prior to the Spanish arrival, followed by a close reading of Guadalupe event that resulted in the baptism of millions of indigenous in the decades following. It has been a challenging historical lesson provided by a great friend, Dr. Ezekiel Stear of Auburn University. His persistent line of investigation throughout his career has been in search of an answer to the question: β€œHow did Mexico become Mexico?” His abundant knowledge has significantly altered my understanding of the β€œprimitive” civilization that the Spanish evangelized in the 16th century, as well as the real collaboration and mutual respect that existed between the Nauha and the Franciscans in certain parts of New Spainβ€”something approaching an ideal. Of course, much of the story did involve mistreatment, deception, cruelty, and greed, on the part of both cultures. Human beings have not changed very much, ever. More to follow in the coming days, but for today: πŸ‡²πŸ‡½ Viva Mexico y la Virgen πŸ‡²πŸ‡½ #hispano #guadalupe #catholic #godstr image

On the left is our old rectory fire tube boiler, installed c. 1967. On the right is the new high efficiency condensing boiler, with all the improvements that accompanied it, including asbestos abatement. Thank God for tradesmen who know what they're doing and care about their craftsmanship. These guys are good dudes, albeit rough around the edges. But they want to know how to do things and do them well. I, for one, appreciate them. Young men, take note. Such competence is not a bad way to make a living, even today.
Found this Spring app (I forget who linked me up with it) from NostrBand and installed it onto Android from GitHub: Very cool way to access many different Nostr apps in one place, and log in securely on mobile. Everything appears to run like a PWA. image #grownostr #listr
