He is a pivotal figure in West Africa, driving Bitcoin adoption through practical digital payment solutions for merchants, developers, and everyday users. In 2025, the Mavapay platform provides essential low-barrier on-ramps for converting fiat to Bitcoin via Lightning, while championing circular economies to help merchants hedge against volatility. He also collaborated with BTCPay Server to build an open-source fiat-to-Bitcoin bridge that simplifies merchant acceptance. He is a true builder committed to developer empowerment, Theophilus co-created Nodegaze, an open-source observability tool for Lightning nodes. As a Faculty Coordinator for @btrust_builders, he mentors over 500 engineers and actively facilitates Bitcoin developer bootcamps across Nigeria and Ghana to train the next generation. Bitcoin Dada now spans across 11 countries including Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Uganda, Cameroon, and Namibia. Our #17 is the resilient Glenn Jooste, South African pioneer igniting Bitcoin adoption through grassroots education, Lightning infrastructure, and community empowerment, turning financial exclusion into sovereignty for the underbanked. In 2025 he organised and contributed to dozens of meetups, workshops via Bitcoin Ubuntu and online classes, delivering hands-on training that empowered over 1,000 students – both in Swellendam and across the continent – with Bitcoin fundamentals, self-custody, and Lightning Network skills, Some participants have gone on to build circular economies, onboard merchants, and send low-cost remittances, slashing reliance on traditional banks. From leading BTC Afrique to creating the Bitcoin Kids comic, Nzonda is shaping the next generation of Bitcoiners. #20 — Belyï Nobel Kubwayo 🇧🇮 Founder of BTC Shule and the spark behind Burundi’s growing Bitcoin movement. His work—translations, courses, and connecting rural villages—keeps opening doors for everyday people. #21 — Grant Gombwa 🇲🇼 Putting Malawi on the Bitcoin map. Through Bitcoin Boma, Grant is building a strong culture of self-custody, education, and community-led adoption. 💥Celebrating Cameroonian Nzonda Fotsing as our #19 Most Impactful African Bitcoiner of 2025! 🇨🇲✨ As the convener of Conférence Bitcoin Afrique, Nzonda has become one of the steady voices driving Bitcoin education across Francophone Africa. Through his conference and the much-loved Bitcoin Kids book, he is helping families, schools, and communities understand money in a practical, relatable way. In 2025, Nzonda’s work reached even further. He published important articles on Bitcoin regulation for the Financial Market Supervisory Commission of Central Africa, expanded Kids Bitcoin into French, Pidgin English, Xhosa, and Hindi (with Zulu and Korean coming soon), contributed a module on African Bitcoin adoption to Citrusate’s diploma course, and supported school clubs like Bitcoin Africa Story with book donations and learning materials. We’re grateful for the consistency and dedication Nzonda brings to the space.
