๐Ÿ“š Readers' Friday Book Club Recap! Today's discussion on Chapter 8: โ€œThe Right Incentivesโ€ from Hijacking Bitcoin by Roger Ver, and Steve Patterson was a great one. We explored how Bitcoin's incentive structure shapes everything from node operation and network scaling to decentralization, governance, and the role of trust. A few key takeaways: ๐Ÿ”ธ Incentives matter as much as technology. How participants are rewarded can shape the entire network. ๐Ÿ”ธ Decentralization requires the right incentives. The question isn't just who can participate, but whether the system makes participation economically sustainable. ๐Ÿ”ธ Markets can coordinate complexity. The chapter challenges the idea that a small group should determine the "correct" way for a decentralized network to evolve. ๐Ÿ”ธ Bitcoin is trust-minimized, not trust-free. We ultimately rely on incentives that encourage people to act in ways that keep the system reliable. ๐Ÿ”ธ Governance matters. Even decentralized systems have humans making decisions, and their incentives can have enormous consequences. A huge thank you to everyone who showed up, shared their perspectives, and contributed to the conversation. ๐Ÿงก See you next Friday!โšก image View quoted note โ†’

What's the biggest Bitcoin opportunity in Africa? ๐Ÿ”˜ Education ๐Ÿ”˜ Payments ๐Ÿ”˜ Savings ๐Ÿ”˜ Entrepreneurship
๐Ÿคฏ Fun Fact Thursday! Did you know? Bitcoin has no customer support line, no complaints department, no account manager, and definitely no โ€œCan I speak to the manager?โ€ option. ๐Ÿ˜‚ If you don't like the rules, your options are simple: Learn them. Ignore them. Or create your own Bitcoin and see how that goes. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜… image

Our Watch Party Wednesday was a success! ๐Ÿงก We watched Joe Nakamoto's thought-provoking video on privacy, human rights, and Bitcoin in El Salvador, and the discussion that followed raised important questions for Africa. A few key takeaways: ๐Ÿ”ธ Bitcoin is bigger than price. Its values include privacy, freedom, self-custody, and individual sovereignty. ๐Ÿ”ธ Bitcoin adoption should never mean giving up fundamental rights. We must be willing to question governments, even those that publicly support Bitcoin. ๐Ÿ”ธ We need to separate Bitcoin from the state. A government adopting Bitcoin doesn't automatically make its policies pro-Bitcoin. ๐Ÿ”ธ Africa must learn from every experiment. As more African countries explore Bitcoin, we should build systems that protect privacy, individual freedom, and financial sovereignty from the start. The conversation reminded us that Bitcoin is not about who controls the system. It's about building a system where no one has to ask for permission to be free. Thank you to everyone who joined the Watch Party and contributed to the discussion! ๐Ÿงก image View quoted note โ†’
