Some working definitions coming out of yesterday’s @nosfabrica #wotathon call. Assertion: An assertion is a Nostr signed event that states a fact, claim, or statement in the event’s content or tags. Attestation: An attestation is a Nostr signed event that references one or more other events (e tag) or entities (p tag), and optionally provides additional context, evaluation, or qualification in the event’s content or tags. Assertor: An assertor is the Nostr public key (npub) that publishes a signed event that constitutes an assertion. Attestor: An attestor is the Nostr public key (npub) that publishes a signed event that constitutes an attestation. Acceptance: Acceptance is the decision to rely upon or act upon one or more assertions and associated attestations.

Good article about the (non) privacy of Lightning. It mentions how ecash can be a private payment layer on top. #Nostr #Safebox does exactly this - all payments between #safebox addresses are negotiated as ecash, even though they look like Lightning payments. The payments don’t touch Lightning at all. View article →

Engineering was never about coding. ‘Engineering’ is actually called applied science for a reason - you apply it. So now we are in the era of Applied Computer Science.
