(Decrypt) -Bitcoin Community- NSTR -Bitcoin Sentiment- 1. Fear(0)/Greed(100) Index: 43/100 (Down 11 pts) Analyst Comments (AC): Saylor's announcement on 'Orange' is drawing reaction from the Bitcoin community, both negative and positive. Some see the need for a digital ID (DID) as a necessity in this digital age and would be best hardened on the immutable bitcoin blockchain. Others see the attachment of inscription-like DIDs on the blockchain as a corruption of the bitcoin philosophical purpose of an unassailable currency. The debate will certainly bring out the pros/cons of the proposal and already has drawn fire on Saylor as the leading proponent of Bitcoin as a store of value. The question will center around the other qualities of money, specifically as a medium or exchange and unit of account, which Saylor may seem to be abandoning. (TheBlock) -Bitcoin Sentiment- 1. Fear(0)/Greed(100) Index: 70/100 (Down 2 pts) Analyst Comments (AC): The recent spate of economic data suggests the world is in for some challenging times ahead. Increasing inflation, higher commodity prices, lower GDP, higher Debt/GDP ratios all suggest a possible stroll/run towards stagflation similar to the 1970s. The Japanese Yen just blew through the 155 Yen/USD mark and signifies some tough choices ahead since Japan is a primary holder of UST. The options are few for the US Fed but to increase liquidity via printing and hope for the best. Similar to economic headwinds like the 1970's we can expect increased pressure on financial exits like commodities and now Bitcoin. This may possibily by the reason for increased attention the USG is giving to stablecoins, self-custody, and decentralized exchanges. Fear(0)/Greed(100) Index: 72/100 (Even) Analyst Comments (AC): The arrest of the founders of Samourai Wallet and continued prosecution of the developer Tornado Cash shows an increasing pressure on privacy and gray market enablers by the US DOJ. In context, it is not an isolated event but rather a systemic approach that is increasingly conflating financial privacy with illegally laundering money. As the digital age continues to progress those in power are realizing the capabilities of surveillance over financial transactions and are fighting to maintain and increase control. This is a continuation of the war between centralization of power and decentralization (AKA freedom) but in the new digital age. This arrest and more to come highlight the need for individuals and communities to increase responsibility for privacy in all matters and understand the tools and use them.
